(CMRRA) is a music licensing agency based in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 1975, CMRRA provides licensing & administration to enable music publishers and self-published songwriters’ repertoire to be accurately licensed, identified, and paid for its usage across the ecosystem. CMRRA presently licenses the reproduction of its clients' music in the following areas:
*Digital - Reproduction of songs via
digital distribution (including downloads and streams)
*Audiovisual post-synchronization licensing - Reproduction of songs embedded in existing audiovisual content e.g. Music videos, YouTube, Meta (Facebook, Instagram), TikTok
*Broadcast Mechanical - Reproductions made during broadcasting activities (e.g. by commercial radio stations, satellite radio services, and background music services)
*International Collections - For digital mechanical licensing in the USA via The MLC. For digital mechanical licensing outside of North America via our partner IMPEL
*Physical Product - Reproduction of songs on physical media (e.g. There is no fee to join as a client. Representation by CMRRA is open to any person, firm or corporation which owns or administers one or more musical works in the Canadian market. CMRRA makes licensing decisions in consultation with its Canadian Publishers Committee.
