❤️ PORTRAITS WITH HEART - DAY 2

Our second day with C A R O L C A R T E R- WATERCOLOR was not only about learning how to paint a portrait - it was about understanding the person behind the portrait.

🎨 We continued exploring:
• Simplifying complex shapes and facial features
• Finding the essential shapes that make a portrait work
• Experimenting with different skin tones and colour combinations
• Using colour and values to create depth, personality, and expression
• Looking beyond the details to capture the essence of a person

But the most touching part of today’s lesson was the story behind the person we painted. ❤️

We learned about a beautiful woman who was adopted into the United States and became a cherished part of her family. Today, her story and her presence are celebrated through a portrait created by Carol on behalve of her loved ones.

And suddenly, portrait painting became about so much more than proportions, shapes, colour, or technique.

It became about memory. Family. Belonging. Love.

✨ A portrait can preserve a face, but it can also preserve a story.

Thank you, Carol, for creating a workshop where we are learning not only how to paint people, but how to see and honour the people behind the faces. 🎨❤️

Portraits with Heart - what a beautiful way to spend two days together.
