Today we began the second phase R&D of our Kosinski project at the Harbourfront Centre, where we are in residency for the next 3 weeks! There will be more updates on this page very soon, so keep your eyes peeled! 👀🧥

We're entering the last two weeks of our 6-week R&D for "The Kosinski Project," as part of a residency with Figurteatret i Nordland in Stamsund, Norway. The work being developed is incredibly exciting and we're looking forward to sharing this project with you in the fall of 2019.
Here's a shot of the actors from a few weeks ago, exploring the small village called Å, looking into the great beyond. Even our surroundings are inspiring!

Have you been wondering what ZOU has been up to? Wonder no more! We've been sitting on some amazing news for quite some time, but now the cat's outta the bag. ZOU theatre company was one of the recipients of the Canada Council for the Arts | Conseil des Arts du Canada's New Chapter grant for the development and production of an as-of-yet untitled project focusing on the life and work of author Jerzy Kosinski (formerly known as "The Painted Bird"), premiering in the fall of 2019.
On top of that: this past week the team flew to Stamsund, Norway, where we were invited to the wonderful home of our co-producers, Figurteatret i Nordland, who are hosting us for a 6-week R&D. We just finished an incredibly productive first week with such a stunning view outside our windows.

Just recently, Artistic Director Viktor Lukawski and Yngvild Aspeli (Artistic Director of Plexus Polaire) led a workshop in puppetry and performance at the Ośrodek Dokumentacji Sztuki Tadeusza Kantora Cricoteka in Krakow, Poland. Here are some photos from that day:

prowadzone przez Yngvild Aspeli (lalkarkę, reżyserkę spektaklu Chambre noire, liderkę grupy teatralnej Plexus Polaire) oraz Viktora Lukawskiego (lalkarza, absolwenta Międzynarodowej Szkoły Teatralnej Jacquesa Lecoqa w Paryżu). Artyści podzielili się swoim doświadczeniem z pracy z lalkami oraz zaprezentowali praktykowane przez nich techniki sceniczne.

This week we've been in rehearsals, experimenting with ideas for a new project. Heidi Chan (aka Bachelard) was in the room and brought in this modular synth rig, blowing us away with the possibilities. Stay tuned for a little video sample.
