Canada Ireland Foundation is dedicated to deepening and broadening Canadians' connection to the culture of Ireland.

Canada Ireland Foundation celebrates and commemorates the story of the Irish in Canada. The Foundation's first project was the creation of Ireland Park on Eireann Quay on Toronto's waterfront Today, we continue to engage scholars in original historical research, as well as present a variety of historical, cultural, and contemporary arts programming.

Headlining rock night at the Lughnasadh Music Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26 is Dublin's Big Sleep (Rónán Connolly, Matteo Poli, Naiara Clarke Lafuente and Aidan Gray). Since releasing their debut EP in 2022, the indie-rock band have built a fast-growing reputation through sold-out headline shows across Europe, major festival appearances around the continent, and supporting Brooklyn band Geese at their most recent Dublin headline. Following a string of sold-out European tour dates, Big Sleep released their debut album 'Holy Show' via LAB Records in February 2026, cementing their place as one of Ireland’s most exciting rising acts.

When he's not opening for Bruce Springsteen or writing viral GAA anthems like "The Top of Bín Bán", Pa Sheehy is busy becoming one of Ireland’s most distinctive and compelling artists — AND performing at the Corleck. For the first time ever, the Kerry native and his band are playing in Canada as part of our Lughnasadh (LOO-nahs-ah) Music Festival folk night on Friday, Sept. 25.

Pa’s solo career follows the phenomenal international success of his former rock band Walking On Cars. His award-winning debut solo EP earned widespread praise and led to sold-out headline tours across Ireland and Europe.

This is an incredible opportunity to witness one of the defining Irish artists of his generation in such an intimate setting. Pa plays alongside Kev Olden and Inn Echo on Friday, Sept. 25. We're officially one month away from the start of our epic 3-day music festival featuring rising folk, rock and pop artists from both Ireland and Canada.

One of the four Gaelic Festivals that we celebrate each year, Lughnasadh (LOO-nahs-ah) is named after the Irish sun god Lugh, a warrior, king and skilled craftsman. Mythology suggests that the Festival began when Lugh held a Funeral Feast in honour of his foster-mother Tailtiu, an earth goddess who passed away after clearing Ireland’s fields for agriculture. In the middle ages, Lughnasadh was a time for community gatherings, with athletic contests, feasting, music, dancing, horse racing and matchmaking. Today, Lughnasadh is celebrated as a cultural event that marks the transition between summer and autumn with Irish music, dance and crafts.

A fitting poem for , by Dublin-born Isabella Valancy Crawford (1850-1887), who immigrated to Peterborough, Ontario and later settled in Toronto. Though she remained relatively unknown during her lifetime, Isabella is now recognized as a pioneer of Canadian poetry and one of Canada’s first writers to make a living as a freelancer. This excerpt is taken from her poem "Malcolm's Katie".
