In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and , we share with you a few reading recommendations. 🧡📚

Our co-president recommends Wenjack by Joseph Boyden, super short read on the story of Chanie Wenjack, a 12-year-old Ojibwe boy, as he escapes from a Northern Ontario Residential School in the futile hopes of returning home to his family and two dogs.

With deep sorrow & love, we’d like to share with you, the community, that Ambe Magada will come down next week. Please join us for a closing in the north hill on Monday, July 24th, 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Initiated by Elder Whabagoon , created by artist Que Rock , with the UofT Daniels Faculty and the Daniels Art Directive, this beautiful mural honoured the 215 children found in Kamloops, B.C. and the many more to be found across Turtle Island.

Installed in November 2021, the mural has brought together many members of the community and stayed up much longer than planned due to your support and love. As the vinyl has been peeling (even with recent repairs), it must be taken down before the cold weather.

A big thank you to Elder Whabagoon, Que Rock, Nene Brode, Aidan Cowling, the Advisory Panel, Nadya Kwandibens, Collin Tatton, Star Nahwegahbo, Lena Recollet, Brenda Wastasecoot, Robin Rice, Melissa Deleary, Mariah Meawasige, StreetARToronto , M2M , ImagineNATIVE , DesignTO… and many more.

Thank you to all of the students, staff, faculty, alumni, & community who supported.

Thank you to those who submitted their own circle artwork (originally to be installed on the interior of the red dots): Nikibii Dawadinna Giigwag (NDG), Nene Brode, Sanjana Patel, Jessica Palmer, Yichen (Michelle) Ma, and Noemi Cabalbag. We will share their artwork on social media shortly. Submissions still open - link in bio.

Please visit the mural in person next week!
