NEWS: Elaine Fleck is providing more artwork to 20th Century Fox “Happily Ever After” which is currently in production in Toronto and Niagara-on-the-Lake starring Patrick Schwarzenegger, Phoebe Dynevor, Kevin Bacon, Andi McDowell and Kristin Davis.
Twelve abstracts curated by Elaine Fleck are currently on set.

Very pleased to have attended the premiere screening of “A GROUP of ONE’S OWN” The Untold Story of Mary Ella Dignam and the Women’s Art Association of Canada.

This wonderful short film is destined to become a popular historical document of a vital chapter in Canadian Art.

A rebel artist in 1887, Mary Ella Dignam founded the Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) because the art world refused to make room for women. This short documentary film follows her journey from rural Ontario to New York to Europe, and then back to Toronto where she built an art community on her own terms.

The Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) is proud to present the 5th Annual Uptown Pride Exhibition, a juried group exhibition celebrating and uplifting the 2SLGBTQI+ community through art, storytelling, and shared experience.

Presented at the Dignam Gallery as part of Pride Toronto 2026’s Affiliate Event programming, the exhibition brings together a diverse range of emerging and established artists whose works explore identity, visibility, love, memory, resilience, joy, and community through a wide variety of mediums and perspectives.

“Each year, Uptown Pride reminds us how much inspiration artists bring to this exhibition,” said Elaine Fleck, Director of Gallery at the Women’s Art Association of Canada and curator of the exhibition. “As an open call show, it is always exciting to see the range of submissions from artists who want to be part of this celebration. Now in its fifth year, and proudly presented as a Pride Toronto Affiliate Event, Uptown Pride continues to welcome artists and audiences into a joyful, creative space that honours community, visibility, and Pride.”

Guided by Pride Toronto’s vision, “to create a world in which all people feel safer, valued, celebrated, and included, regardless of how they identify or who they love,” the exhibition highlights the power of artistic expression as a means of connection, reflection, and advocacy, while reflecting WAAC’s continued commitment to fostering accessible opportunities for artists and creating a welcoming space for community engagement and celebration.

About the Film
Photos by Kirk tells the story of an Armenian Genocide survivor who immigrated to America in 1920 and worked as a photographer in the Bronx from the 1920’s to 1970’s. Kourken Hovsepian (professionally known as Kirk) photographed weddings, bar mitzvahs, confirmations and local events. His photographs document a unique period in New York City’s history and the ethnically diverse inhabitants. Though he lost his whole family in the tragic events of 1915 in Turkey, Kirk’s story revives the American Dream and what it means to document generations of celebratory events in other people’s lives. Directed, Produced and Edited by Jamie Day Fleck.
