We could feel it coming, and it landed yesterday : because of some morons, we now have new restrictions on meetups and gathering, which means that there will be no film networking evening in September, because no one wants to risk a $10k fine.

Stay health and safe, and see you all when the restrictions are lifted.

Hello hello everyone !

While we were hopeful that, even if Toronto and the GTA were not going to enter Stage 3 this coming Friday, the gathering limits would still be raised like when we entered stage 2, it seems that this won't happen for another while.

We were planning for a Networking evening on July 30th, but at this stage, we're not sure if the limits will be changed, as we don't know when Toronto and the GTA will enter Stage 3.

As a result, we are going to plan the event anyway, and it will be confirmed one or two days before IF it is legal and safe for us to do so.

Be patient, we'll be back soon :)

Great news!

With the passage to Stage 2, our next film networking meetup date is getting closer and closer !

Of course, it will have to be outside and we will ask everyone to respect the physical distancing rules, but hey, after 4 months without one, this will certainly be better than nothing!

Hello all of youze !

For the first time in a long time, there won't be any networking evening this month, as we are still in the process of looking for a new home for them.

If you know of a place that you would like to recommend, please feel free to do so in the comments below. As a reminder, the perfect place should :

- be near a subway station, or easily accessible for the majority of people, preferably in or near downtown.
- accommodate 100+ people at the same time, preferably in a private/semi private room, for free, on Thursday evenings.
- have a screen (TV or projector), microphone and PA system available for annoucements.
- not have loud music that prevent people from talking.
- preferably have cheap(ish) drinks and food.

Hello friends and friendsettes from the Film Industry

Just so you all know and are not caught offguard, there is another attack happening on us, and this time they're not attacking me personally, but are trying to ruin the reputation of the networking evenings/meetups by pretending that the men who go there are all mysoginistic perverts.
The attacks are coming from fake accounts under the names of Laura Wilson and Kim Whitewood but were really created and are managed by a boy that I wont name here, for legal reasons and because there is a police investigation running.
These two accounts have been created very recently and both present the same red flags that call out loud "fake account" :
- They were created very recently
- They post some extreme/right wing content, in the same writing style
- They have profile pictures that are "borrowed" from various places on the internet
- A google search on their name and profession in the places they say they are from will return a big nothing.
-And of course no one has ever seen them in real life because they always come up with excuses to not show up (the last one being a fake sexual note allegedly written by a pervert and dropped on the table of one of them while "she" was waiting for the door to the meetup to open.

Of course, they have been reported and added to the harassment case I'm building with Toronto Police (thank you IP address trackers), but meanwhile, and since I can't see what they post because they, of course, both blocked me, I wanted to make as many of you aware of the situation, and to make sure that you all know that these two persons are not who they say they are, since they are very probably not only a boy, but the same one as well.

Voilà! Enjoy life while you don't have an idiot trying to ruin your days 😁

Let's talk about the New Tarantino movie... and I won't spoil it.

Honestly, it has great and funny moments, a VERY satisfying scene around the end (oh, I wish...), but all in all, all these amount to maybe 10-15 minutes in total.

The rest of it is a sum of egos having fun and showing off.

Leonardo di Caprio and Brad Pitt are clearly enjoying playing their characters, but they're completely over the top. (Maybe it was the intention though...)

The reconstitution of Hollywood in 1969 and the cinematography are totally astonishing and incredible (holy cow, these wide shots must have cost a TON of money), especially in 70mm on a BIG screen.

Some visual effects suck (but maybe it was done on purpose, to emulate the 1969 style?).

The story is boooooooooring. It reveals itself and the reason for all the shenanigans at the end, in that very satisfying scene I mentioned above, but still, the film could have been an hour shorter to get to the same result, with a lot of useless or dragging parts cut out (ego showing off, you said?).

The moment that made me laugh the most is when my friend Shael who was watching it with, me stood up after the end credits scene and started yelling in the theatre, that he wanted his money AND the two hours and a half of his life back immediately.

So yeah, in the end and despite some great aspects, watching the whole thing at an 11pm screening was a very tedious experience. I'm glad my girlfriend decided to go home and sleep instead.

Mr Tarantino, please, I know you don't give a s**t about what I think, but... Reservoir Dogs was pretty good, Pulp Fiction was decent... what happened after ?
