For the past few months have been working hard at turning the studio walls into a full art gallery with over 40 piece of art now on display here! While recording at the studio you have the option to also purchase any art that has provided inspiration to you during the process! Or simply wander the halls and read about all the artists and get lost in all the beautiful pieces here. I absolutely could not have done this without the significant help of and .baxter3. They’ve been instrumental in both the curating and the day-to-day steps to getting this off the ground. With over ten artists, there’s a wide variety of art including landscape, black excellence, indigenous representation, collage style, and mixed multi-media and trinket art.
Artists include , , , , .rain, , .ulubabian, , , , , and .

I’m always happy to expand and meet other visual artists so feel free to reach out to introduce me!

And most importantly, a massive thanks to for encouraging me to pursue this and letting me pull even extra long days here after sessions to get everything in order.

If you read this today then come by for the grand opening and open house! We’ll have serving custom cocktails and mocktails!

RCA BK-5

This metal grilled, hyper-cardiod, aluminum ribboned microphone known as the RCA BK-5 was built to withstand powerful, high SPL level audio recordings.

Here it’s used commonly on guitar cabinets, vocals, brass, and drum overheads. For a ribbon microphone it has a very full frequency spectrum with smooth rich top end.

Fun fact: The BK-5 we’re introduced in the 1950’s and hand built by RCA engineers to be able to withstand direct gunfire making it one of the most rugged mics ever made. Created for film and television recordings, it was given its dark matte paint coat to avoid glare and reflection on early black-and-white TV broadcasts 📺

The great folks over at Fortin have loaned us their new DB47 microphone and it’s sounding crisp and warm all around! It stands tall against our Neumann 149 and vintage U87 during our mic shootouts

It adds a lot of great, unique, character when used as a kick-out mic on our 60’s Ludwig kit. It also smoothly enhances the warm low-mids while capturing the tones of our guitar amps such as the Fender Super Reverb and AC30.

Looking forward to exploring it more while we still have it!

Woohoo! As a mono drum mic, or placed near accordion or harmonica to soften the top mids, or as a tasty close vocal mic, this ribbon is siiilky smooth.

Fun fact: This mic is also known for its “offset ribbon” design, which allows it to withstand louder sources from the front, as well as giving the microphone a slightly different voicing from front to back. It’s always worth hearing both sides before hitting record!

Originally produced in 1950, the Fender Rhodes is an iconic instrument loved by everyone from Stevie Wonder to Calvin Hartwick.

This majestic metal-tined melody maker is not just a one trick pony. Pair it with our Fender Super Reverb to get an extra special tonal excitement for your sound.

Fun Fact: Harold Rhodes originally developed a teaching piano for recovering soldiers during WWII. Soon after the “Xylette” was created (using scrap aircraft parts to create small piano playable in bed at hospitals) H. Rhodes won a service achievement award for his therapy achievements. This would eventually evolve into the Fender Rhodes.

Known for its rich, warm overdrive when pushed to its limits, this 1965 Beltone AP-14 is loaded with character!

One of its many uses here at Dream House is to pair it with our harmonica mic for some classic distorted vocals 👨‍🎤
Maybe even throw our Fender Bass IV through for a very unique tone! Is it bass? Is it guitar? It kinda sounds like both!

Fun Fact: This amp holds a special place in the Canadian Music Industry as they were distributed by Beltone Electronics Ltd. based in Montreal! Ce fait est tellement amusant!

We have a lot of great pairings and twin gear here at the studio but these siblings simply take the cake!

In additional to looking cool with their violin style f-holes, they both offer such full and unique tones that it can be it be difficult to decide which one to use. Why not use both! Pan the Sheraton on the left and the ES-335 on the right! 😋

Fun Fact: Until 1952, Gibson produced only hollow-body guitars, which are, intentionally or not, prone to feedback when amplified loudly. That year saw the introduction of their first solid-body, the Gibson Les Paul, a significantly different instrument that we know and love today. The ES-335 was an attempt to find a middle ground: a warmer tone than a solid body produced with almost as little feedback. Best of both worlds! 🙃

Oh baby, you can serenade me with this any day. 😮‍💨

The thunderous low-end and rich, brilliant, top-end make for a beautiful and full acoustic sound.

Fun Fact: Introduced in 1931, the Martin D-28 uses a “dreadnought” design, a naval term adopted and used by many to describe its larger body dimensions 🚢 🌊

Our Supro amp packs a heck of a punch! 😤

Pair it with our flatwound 30” shortscale Fender Mustang bass and you’ve got yourself one thumpy, smoooooth, phat tone.

Fun Fact: The Mustang Bass was introduced in 1966 by designer Leo Fender as a companion to the (believe it or not) even shorter-scaled 22.5” Mustang guitar. 🎸

These beauties pair nicely as a Glyn John setup on our mid 60’s Ludwig kit 🤤

The Coles 4038 is a ribbon microphone that was first patented by the BBC in the 1950’s.

Fun Fact: it was originally known as the STC 4038!
