Master craftsman Hubert Yarzagaray recently led an inspiring workshop at the JFK Center, showing representatives from local cultural government departments exactly what goes into building an authentic Aruban tambú.

From selecting the right wood to expertly stretching and tuning the skin, Hubert shared the traditional techniques and passion needed to craft this iconic instrument. It’s through hands-on moments like these that we protect our rich musical heritage and pass down our island’s history to future generations.

🥁 Carlos Bislip Drum Camp End of Camp Recital! 🎶

On Saturday, August 15, our talented students took the stage at the EPI Auditorium for their final recital! It was an incredible showcase of talent, hard work, and musical growth.

Parents and supporters gathered to watch the young drummers perform live and show off everything they learned during this intensive month-long camp. From mastering rhythm to building confidence on stage, we couldn't be prouder of their dedication!

A huge congratulations to all our students for an amazing performance, and a special thank you to Carlos Bislip and everyone who supported these rising stars. 👏✨

From a grandfather’s piano to the world of jazz, folk, and multimedia music, Alejandro A. Gonzalez Lujan is creating his own musical path. 🎹

Inspired by his grandfather Eric Tchong, Alejandro began his musical journey with drums and percussion before discovering his passion for piano and composition.

In 2023, he began studying Jazz & Pop, majoring in Jazz Piano, at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU). Since then, he has worked on projects including his own jazz and Aruban folk band, Proyecto Wayaba, original compositions, video game music, and music for the Balashi Museum.

Today, Alejandro continues to grow as a pianist, composer, and collaborator, bringing together jazz, Aruban folk, and new sounds.
