Day 3 Shared Futures — Building beyond ourselves.

Together, we are turning possibility into power; building partnerships that will sustain our communities, nurture our talent, and keep our stories and their rewards in our hands.
What we create together today reaches far beyond any one film, any one career, any one lifetime. It is opening doors for people we will never meet. We are determined that those who come after us inherit from us the freedom to imagine, the means to create, and the ownership to shape their own futures.

This is the promise of CCF: that finding each other today will change what becomes possible tomorrow.

Last night, we gathered to celebrate the voices, stories, and trailblazers who have shaped our communities and our screens, like Hon. Dr. Jean Augustine, Jackie Richardson, and Terri Lyons (lead actress on “Queen of Soca”).

From powerful conversations to beautiful moments of connection, Honoring Our Legends Night was a reminder of why representation matters and why these stories deserve to be seen, remembered, and celebrated.

Through her own fractured relationship with her father, and the stories of women in Canada and Guadeloupe, filmmaker Ayana O'Shun investigates the roots and consequences of father absence in Black communities across the Americas.

Blending personal narrative with social inquiry, Father's Day traces the legacies of slavery, colonialism, and migration that continue to shape families today and the enduring search for love, healing, and connection.
