We lost Brent Carver 5 years ago today. Here’s he and I singing Bohemian Rhapsody karaoke, if memory serves me, at Butlers bar in Niagara on the Lake many moons ago. Worked with him a few times. Loved him, idolized him, worried for him, stole from him (bits and practices, not money or things). What he managed to do on stage couldn’t be replicated but it was a beacon of raw talent and openness that was fascinating to watch and marvel at. We were all better for seeing him, listening to him and knowing him. We were lucky to have him as long as we did. But f**k, I wish he was still here. To see his Timon, his Lear, his Fool, his anything. A beautiful soul and truly one of the very greats.

Teaching GBShaw these past 3 weeks with has been illuminating, rigorous and a true joy. Thank you for facilitating and for his studio! And a special thank you to for her efforts and support. We need more actors and directors passing this stuff along as schools shutter their doors. I’m pretty sure I learned more than I taught.
