It is with great sorrow we're announcing the suspension of the workshops for Rojotango Weekend. Natalia have to return home to Argentina to recuperate. She and Hernan both wish the best to our Toronto Tango community and hope to return soon to embrace us all. Please send her love and good energy!

Natalia is coming with a great company, Hernan Gaston Lazart. Some of us already had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago in Toronto with his current (life) partner Marina. Originally from Argentina, they are now based full time in montreal. Here’s his biography.

Coming from a tango family, Hernan Lazart is impregnated at an early age in traditional tango culture. In 1990, he already had with him an important information received through the great masters of tango in Buenos Aires.
Early in his career in Argentina, he is seen in many prestigious scenarios of Buenos Aires and its surroundings as he participates in several local television programs. In 2005 and 2006, he participated in several national and international dance festivals in Latin American countries such as Costa Rica, Colombia and Ecuador, including Mexico Music Festival incorporating popular celebrities.
He has danced in Rio de Janeiro with the Sexteto Mayor and the renowned dancer Natalia Hills in the historic Copacabana Palace Hotel in an event organized by the Culture Secretariat of the "Presidencia de la Nación Argentina."
In August 2011, Hernan joined the Tangueros del Sur Company of Natalia Hills presented at the International Festival of Tamaulipas Mexico. This show was honored and received cultural recognition of the state and was also presented in 2012 at the Israel Festival in Jerusalem among others.
Afterwards, he was immediately hired to integrate the show Forever Tango. In 2013 he appeared with the show on Broadway. This passage devotes great reviews from the American press.

He currently resides in Canada, Montreal and works again in rehearsals with the Argentine dancer and choreographer Natalia Hills.

Do you ever wonder about tango maestros and maestras, how have they developed their tango and style? Do u wish to learn more about how our modern day tango is connected to and yet different from the tango that the famous tangueros and maestros were inventing and teaching in the golden era? Do you want to explore how tango was influenced and evolved over time? Come meet Natalia Hills, one of the important figures in tango history and modern tango, and discover for yourself. Let’s explore!

The Argentine dancer, Natalia Hills, is a third-generation tango dancer. Her professional debut was at 12 years of age in the dance company of Juan Carlos Copes.

She has been nominated for Laurence Olivier, Tony, and Drama Desk awards for best choreography for the hit show “Forever Tango” on Broadway and in London.

She danced for the late Princess Diana Spencer, in the Colon Theater in Buenos Aires, and at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
On television, she has appeared on the “Today Show” on NBC, “Evening at the Pops” on PBS, and in a National Geographic special.

In 2009, Hills founded her own dance company, “Tangueros del Sur” and presented “Romper el Piso” in the New York City Center, Jacob’s Pillow, Israel Dance Festival in Jerusalem, Maipo Theater of Buenos Aires, and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Greece, where the company also presented a version of “Maria de Buenos Aires” by Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer with the original singer in the musical, Amelita Baltar in 2018.

2020: Undertakes research and investigation into the learning, practice and early years of artistic training; studio that she shares with Luis Tarantino (Prestigious journalist and radio host), including director Ivan Bauer in the artistic team.

2021: The making of “Ella Baila” happens in November, in San Telmo, Buenos Aires.

Upcoming events:
2022: Official premiere of "Ella Baila" in Canada. Natalia will continue in artistic residency in North America.
