Saturday night is the big concert, titled "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and featuring two world premieres. The second's not even advertised on the flyer. But it's called Four Weddings and a Funeral, so kind of.

You can get tickets of EventBrite or at the door: Calvin Presbyterian Church (26 Delisle Avenue) this Saturday, June 6. The concert begins at 7:30 PM, and tickets range from $15 to $35.

These are sounds 'from the belly of an iceberg', a theme explored in the upcoming world premiere of We Were Witness by composer Sarah Bassingthwaighte, performed in the upcoming Jubilate concert on June 7 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, baton downbeat at 7:30pm. (Sorry, Iceberg. The music's better than the real thing.)

Researchers have recorded and sped up the sounds that icebergs make as they scrape past each other, after an earthquake or as they break up. The resulting mu...

From Arabic to Zulu is the range of languages Jubilate Singers sing in. Often that includes following a given language's traditional musical style. Are we perfect? Heck, no!

Nor do we spread from Eh! to Zed in every concert. But in June 6’s, we come close, going C to X!

Deep breath: Catalan, Czech, English, English in Scots dialect (when you don’t know what bonny bairns, shielings and creels are, you’re beyond King’s Own), Français du Québec, (High) German, Namibian, Norwegian, Slovak, Swahili and Xhosa.

Will we be perfect on June 6, from 7:30 at Calvin Church, 26 Delisle Avenue? Maybe! Best come and see for yourself. Tickets from $15 at Event Brite.

This is the sound of a 'tern calling'. It's referenced in song several times throughout the World Premiere of the epic SSAATTBB work, We Were Witness written by Canadian-American composer Sarah Brassingthwaighte.

See the piece performed live by Jubilate Singers Saturday, June 6 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Toronto.

Let's pretend that the mis-orientation of these scores is intentional. It expresses how tired and discombobulated many of us were feeling at the end of the rehearsal last night.

You may know, that Jubilate Singers will take on every language from Arabic to Zulu. Last night we conquered Eastern Europe. A friendly multi-linguist called Val bravely coached us and our wooden tongues through pronunciations of songs in Moravian, Czech and Slovakian. What a beautiful challenge!

The next concert, titled Four Weddings and a Funeral, is on June 6. Find tickets on Eventbrite. All modesty aside, we recommend you attend. (More hard sell to come!)

More tips for keeping your voice healthy, courtesy of NIDCD. 1. Take vocal naps—rest your voice throughout the day.
2. Use a humidifier in your home. This is especially important in winter or in dry climates. Thirty percent humidity is recommended.

Despite the inexplicable longevity of careers like Carol Channing and Ozzie Osbourne's, your vocal cords (not 'chords') are a tiny and delicate instrument. Your friends at Jubilate Central are providing FREE advice over the next little while for preserving what you're blessed to still have. Why? Our next concert's theme is 4 Weddings and a Funeral and we want you in fine fettle for either.

These tips are the first of several, quoted (plundered) from the NIH. If the second also sounds like your mother, that's not on Jubilate or NIH.

1 Drink plenty of water, especially when exercising.

2 If you drink caffeinated beverages or alcohol, balance your intake with plenty of water.

Looking forward to taking care of voice with lots more tips, soon.
