500+ people visited our centre on October 3 for 's final celebration event, TSUNAGU: Passing on Books, Memories & Culture🙌💞

🦋 60 people joined our station
📚100+ people received library giveaway items, with many more people receiving other giveaway items
💌 And countless warm messages and memories were shared with us in person and on our ema-inspired comment cards.

The Japan Foundation, Toronto, International House of Japan - 国際文化会館 and American Friends of the International House of Japan are honored to have hosted an afternoon filled with meaningful discussions about the future of North America-Japan partnership on September 26, in Toronto.

We were joined by keynote speaker, Dr. Roseann Runte, who discussed innovation through intercultural exchanges and the importance of such partnerships between countries and institutions. Following the keynote, a panel comprising speakers from Canada and United States - including Dr. Annika Culver from Prince Takamado Japan Centre; Dr. Frank Feltens from Seattle Art Museum; Mr. Justin Rockefeller from Avenera; Dr Phillip Lipscy from Centre for the Study of Global Japan, University of Toronto; and Dr. Tom Mason from the US-Japan Bridging Foundation - discussed the future of the trilateral partnership between Canada, the United States, and Japan. Each panelist spoke about the needs within their respective fields to nurture the next generation in order to build stronger relations over the next 100 years. The key message across the many topics discussed was that investing in people to build future expertise is a core priority on all fronts.

We were also honored to welcome the Ambassador of Japan to Canada, Mr. Masashi Nakagome, who kindly addressed the audience.

We would like to extend our special thanks to Japan Society Canada for their promotional partnership for this event. Lastly, thank you to everyone who joined us for this important conversation!
