The Censored Opera Festival opens tonight with LA DORICLEA: INTER-ACTS at the Musiikkitalo Black Box Theatre in Helsinki. I’m so thrilled and humbled to have been a co-creator (writer and sound designer), co-director and performer of MIKO in this new interdisciplinary work. Thank you to all the artists involved and congrats! Let’s go bring the world some q***r-trans-baroque-opera-theatre tonight!

La Doriclea: Inter-Acts, Ensemble Nylandia’s new co-production, takes the stage at Musiikkitalo’s Black Box on 11–12 September. Two timelines and worlds intersect: in Cavalli’s 17th-century opera, warriors fall in love, while in a dystopian 21st-century America, a group of q***r artists struggles to survive.

Music, dance, opera and theatre intertwine in this celebration of solidarity and freedom.

Having some complicated feelings 3 months on testosterone... is it jet lag? Depression? PMS? Who knows!? All I know is that I need a "Night Off" with my colleagues to sing! https://youtu.be/qgKJJLYBuq4?si=Ici6F8_hp3Dy5VwH

I was Opera Canada's 2025 Change Maker. That doesn’t mean my job is done. Change still needs to happen within our industry for more equitable projects, spaces and practices. Felt inspired to repost this and also to let you know the FULL SPEECH IS ON YOUTUBE! Having inspiring conversations about changing the opera industry today. IYKYK

So I guess all I needed was a little testosterone to fix my upper passaggio? Was that all, Maria Vetere? 😂
