🎹 I just ordered the posters for this awesome new class I'm offering this fall, and you can expect to see them popping up all over Haliburton in the coming weeks!

I'm excited to announce Music Makers: A Creative Piano Adventure for children ages 5–8.

This isn't your typical music class. Over 8 weeks, kids will explore piano, rhythm, singing, music theory, creativity, and musical expression through games, movement, LEGO®, a giant floor piano, and lots of hands-on activities.

My goal is to help children build a strong musical foundation while having so much fun they don't even realize how much they're learning!

The program will run in September/October, with final dates and location determined based on the needs of participating families. I'm currently looking at either the West Guilford Community Centre or the Haliburton Legion.

🎵 Early Bird Tuition: $295 🎵 Limited to 15 students 🎵 No commitment required to pre-register

Pre-registration helps me determine scheduling, location, and class size, and it locks in the Early Bird rate.

If you have a child (or know a child!) who might enjoy a fun, creative introduction to music, I'd love to hear from you.

In the past I've made big deals about song releases. But I've decided to take a slightly different and more casual approach this time. Here is the acoustic demo for a new song "Sure Thing" that I finished today. It was recorded casually at my home using only my piano in my voice. If you listen carefully, you can also hear the cats stomping around in the background.

“Sure Thing” is an acoustic demo I’ve made free to listen to, download, and enjoy. It will be included on the full album, "Amaleen," once complete.

If you’d like to support the next stage of this song’s life, you can contribute to the recording fund by purchasing it on Bandcamp for whatever price you can afford (suggested $2, but always pay what feels right—or nothing at all, as the track remains free on Youtube).

These demos are not the final destination. They’re the first sketches of songs I hope to eventually bring into full studio arrangements with a larger ensemble of musicians who can be properly paid for their work. Your support helps make that possible — funding studio time, collaborators, and the process of turning these songs into their fullest form.

"Sure Thing" is inspired by the songwriting of Joni Mitchell, the fearless self-discovery championed by RuPaul, and the wisdom of Khalil Gibran; it's a reflection on the beautiful complexity of being alive. We spend so much of our lives searching for certainty, only to discover that love, purpose, and even ordinary days are far more complicated than we imagined. But perhaps that's the point. The struggles, contradictions, and unexpected turns don't stand in the way of a meaningful life—they're what shape us into who we're meant to become.

Thank you for listening, for sharing these songs, and for helping them grow from quiet acoustic sketches into the recordings I've always heard in my head.

I'm so excited to be teaching two courses this summer at the Haliburton School of Art + Design!

The first is Find Your Voice, a supportive workshop designed to help you build confidence and discover your unique musical expression. The second is Building a Band, where we'll explore the joy of making music together and develop the skills needed to play as a group.
There are going to be some super fun times this summer! If you've been looking for an opportunity to play more music, grow your confidence, and connect with other musicians, this is your chance to do it in the beautiful Haliburton Highlands. 🎶🌲

I'd love to invite you to a very special evening of music on July 30th.

I'm incredibly grateful to the Haliburton School of Art + Design at Fleming College for not only inviting me to teach the Find Your Voice and Building a Band workshops, but also for giving me the opportunity to share an evening of my original songs in the Great Hall.

Every song I'll be performing was written since moving to this beautiful part of the world. Finding my way back to my creative self has been a long and meaningful journey, and these songs are part of that story. It would mean so much to have you there to share this little chapter with me.

📍 Great Hall, Fleming College – Haliburton Campus
🗓️ Thursday, July 30
đź•  5:30 p.m. -6:30 p.m.
🎟️ Admission is completely free
I hope you'll join me. ❤️

Writing break. Verse 3 is done. What do you think it's about?

I've been in this business for 20 years and I can tell you confidently that tension is one of the most important musical elements that you will ever learn. Creating tension, leveraging tension, and resolving tension. A good musician knows how to do all three.

I was just mauled by black flies in the garden. Don't mind my slightly swollen face. I thought I would reward myself with some sushi and some good vibes.

Making real, human-first music is simpler than you might think.

I'm building a new piano course, and I'd love your input. By answering a few quick questions, you'll help shape a course that's tailored to what people actually want to learn—and you'll get early access to resources along the way.

No commitment. Just 2 minutes.
