Introducing our new Assistant Rehearsal Director, Isabel Dela Cruz!

Isabel is an alumni Company Member of Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (2022–2024) and is thrilled to return this season as Assistant Rehearsal Director.

She is incredibly grateful for the invaluable experiences, growth, and opportunities CCDT has provided throughout her journey. Isabel is excited to work alongside and learn from the company’s talented and inspiring artists, while encouraging and supporting the young dancers as they grow, explore, and find their own voices as artists. She looks forward to watching them flourish and is honoured to be part of their journey, just as CCDT has been such an important part of her own.

Isabel Dela Cruz is a passionate, dedicated, and hardworking dancer and actress who began her dance journey at the age of two. Since then, she has developed into a versatile and highly skilled multidisciplinary artist, with extensive training in contemporary, modern, ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip hop, Jazz Funk, Afro, and dancehall. After years of competitive dance, Isabel joined Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, where she discovered her artistic voice, deepened her passion for movement, and continued to develop her craft as a performer.

Alongside her work in dance, Isabel has built a career as an actress and screen performer, with credits including 13: The Musical (Netflix), The Next Step (Disney+), FUBAR (Netflix), Fangers (Netflix), The Body (Netflix), and Into the Deep Blue. Most recently, she performed as a member of the ensemble in Disney’s The Lion King with Mirvish Productions. A 2024 graduate of Cawthra Park Secondary School, Isabel continues to pursue her passion for the performing arts across dance, theatre, and film, bringing a strong work ethic, creativity, and genuine passion to every opportunity.

Did you know CCDT has an Accelerated Training Program? Non-competitive performance training for dancers ages 10-14: a stepping stone into the Company.

ATP dancers train in ballet and modern technique, and perform in professionally produced shows each season. The program creates original repertoire from well-known choreographers and the dancers are mentored by CCDT Company members.

Led by Helen Cox, whose training career bridges the UK and Canada; CCDT brings dancers world-class artistry, right here at home.

Julia Cosentino is a dance artist, educator, collaborator, choreographer and performer. This is at the heart of her practice, and as an educator is her goals that students leave with a deeper understanding of dance, a deeper connection to their personal voice, and a set of useful tools that they can continue to cultivate and utilize in their training and performance for years to come. She hopes to inspire them to experience music, passion, freedom, joy, vulnerability, individuality, community and success through dance.

🎓 Congratulations to CCDT's Nine Departing Company Dancers!

This year, nine Company members (and SCCDT grads!) have won acceptance into leading post-secondary dance programs across Canada and the United States. Destinations include the State University of New York (SUNY Purchase College), The Ailey School (NYC), Arts Umbrella (Vancouver), Toronto Metropolitan University, and George Mason University (Virginia). Many have been awarded full scholarships in recognition of their exceptional artistic achievements.

At CCDT, we are committed to supporting young artists, both during their company membership and as they take their next steps. Every dancer receives $3,500 toward their post-secondary education, with CCDT awarding a total of $31,500 this year.

Through paid performance opportunities, national and international touring, creation with internationally renowned choreographers, and artist development that meets the highest standards required by leading post-secondary institutions, CCDT prepares young dancers for success in dance and beyond.

These dancers join a long legacy of CCDT alums who have gone on to train at institutions including Juilliard, NYU Tisch, CalArts, Codarts Rotterdam, and perform with acclaimed companies including RUBBERBAND, Toronto Dance Theatre, Gallim, Limón Dance Company, and Company Wayne McGregor. Visit our website at ccdt.org to see the full list.

We are beyond proud of this group of dancers and look forward to following their journeys. ✨
