Manifesto for future endeavors:
the Rideau Property management is planning this 150 million dollar piece of Canadian History and turning it into a shadow of it's former prestige.The people of Ottawa, may or may not have noticed for the past 5 - 10
years this building in down town Ottawa across the street, to the left of the highlander. it is a 150,000 square foot building, 5 stories high, by 5 stories wide, by 15 stories long. It took me a long time to figure out what this buildings address was, what it used to be, what's going on with it, and what the plans are for it. Currently, this building is gutted, scheduled first, to be cleaned of asbestos, and then divided into pieces to be an extension of the Rideau shopping mall. A Viable Bar, Lounge, Restaurant, Venue, and place for artists, music, visual, audio, video, graphic, to contribute their skills to an ongoing project to make a sustainable place for the public to discover new arts, of all kinds. so how much is this building worth?

You may believe, or think that this is unrealistic, plans are already underway for a feasible plans to operate all floors of the building, dedications departments to bunkhouses for musicians and artists, 2 full floors for a main venue, and bar restaurant, including a kitchen, 1 entire floor dedicated to performance rooms, for uprising bands, practice space and artistic endeavours with video and audio recording equipment available on site. Well, Myself and Members of Black Star Audio are drawing up a business plan
that will cover all 5 floors of the building, dedicating space to the creative process, including visual arts, performance arts, studio and recording, making available, most of, if not eventually all the tools for an artistic community to discover and grow, while at the same time providing a place to display and appreciate arts of all kinds. there is a lot of artistic talent in Ottawa and Canada, and i would like to see this building dedicated to arts and culture. rough outlines look like this

How will Black Star Audio bring positive economic and Cultural stimulation to Ottawa? Ottawa is a melting pot of many cultures, backgrounds and ethnicities. this makes for a very wide spectrum of music influence. With this in mind, Black Star Audio has two Immediate goals.
1. to provide a place for sincere artists (visual, musical, performance or other) to come and practice their craft, and
2 to provide a means to capture and produce the artwork for the means of displaying and selling (or trading) to the public
this operation provides a conduit to give cultured artists a place to go, and a recognizable function for the community to find and appreciate art, and talent. once a familiarity is established, a clientèle base is made, you have revenue, and opportunity to employ further. Thus, by providing a place for artistic and social communities to interact and do business, and conduct artists endeavours under the same roof, you create a place for business (art / media sales) and art (the creative process) to grow off of each other simultaneously, providing expansive economic and cultural stimulation. Why is it important? Have you ever had an idea, or felt something for someone that you just couldn't let go of? have you ever been looking for just that right puzzle piece? the fact that this building does not appear to be doing anything simply amazes me. from an entertainment / venue perspective, it screams LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. this building is in the center of Rideau street and your average person walking by does not even realize it is a functional building. with double doors on Rideau and Nicholas, it could easily be the most recognized building in Ottawa. Not to mention the Historical Attraction of the building, which is sure to draw tourism by itself. which is why as part of my business plan i wish to include historical restorations included in the budget when presenting to the NAC, city of Ottawa and the Rideau Center. The size of the building will allow for several, and one larger venues which means more variety of shows, wider ranges of people to market to, which means higher profit margins. the fact of all this, is 126 Rideau has enough room to house all departments needed, cutting costs and allowing departments to cooperate effectively, making business management more effective, and business more efficient. this location is IDEAL for this operation
