Q:In your studio work, are you a daily ritual person or are you project based, working long hours in spurts?

A:Definitely project based! Project management is a huge part of my professional background, and it shows up in my artistic practice as well, but I do hope to develop daily rituals someday.

A.
Tough question - the earliest art crush that I can recall is an artist from Stockholm, Malin Gabriella Nordin. I was so in love with her whimsical and colourful paintings/objects in the second year of my BFA (still am!). .... ... .... ... ... ....
Jill’s work will be up at The Clock Factory building at Dupont and Campbell, in the 2nd floor window gallery. Entry to the public weekdays until 5pm.

Introducing our Akin Vitrine August artist .am . Some words about me…
Since my childhood, the expression is a priority, a richness and especially a sharing. I was able from a very young age to develop it in different areas, the most important being music and visual art. These ways of expression were guides all my life and made me build skills, acuities and so many deep and unimaginable treasures. Through the art of expression there is so much magic exchanges between two persons or in community. Artistic expression is a playful way of making each child grow in tolerance, communication, dreams, work together, and color their own life and values. That's why for me, above all, to be an artist is to cultivate, share, transmit his passion: reach out to the youngest to make it a quality and strength in the future.

Introducing our July Akin Vitrine Artist!
Mel Hayes .art is a multi-disciplinary creative, who pushes the boundaries between visual arts and graphic design. Originally trained as a graphic designer and BDes graduate from the Alberta University of the Arts. Her studies informed her approach to abstract painting, relying on shapes and composition to elevate her ideas.
Sail Away explores the boundaries of time and the role memories play in shaping your current reality. Inspired by expression “ One eye on the past, one eye on the future”. The piece is composed of multiple layers strategically placed in front of each other to create a larger composition.
