THIS WEEK AT SWEET ACTION I rewatched call me by your name (2017), and let me tell you, I got me an Argument!!! for this film
ok so around 2017-2019 I was OBSESSED, it was my favourite film, I had seen it so many time, it captivated the heck outta me, all of that fun stuff but THEN I started AGING and HOT TAKE??? I STOPPED WANTING TO BONE 17 YEAT OLDS AT LIKE 20 ACTUALLY YOU KNOW WHAT??? PROLLY LIKE 18!!! YOU ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT, I DIDNT WANNA BONE 17 YEAR OLDS WHEN I WAS 17 CAUSE I NEVER FU**ED WITH UNDERDEVELOPED BRAINS, ITS JUST JUST NOT FOR ME,
and I know everything is all European, and q***r age clocks function differently WEVE ALL BEEEN THERE , but through critical engagement with the film, I began to feel personally that the very short lived intense relationship that Oliver and Elio has was actually really harmful to Elio and his sense of self, that Oliver played games (whether unconscious or not) with Elio and Elio did not as a (though well-read, somewhat mature) 17 year old have the emotional and biological capacity to emotionally regulate himself during this event!!!!!!
So I stopped watching the film !!!!!!!! Sad!!!
BUT THEN I aged SOME MORE and began to find something NEW
see for me, despite the author, the actors, and Luca G's opinion on the film, I believe you give your art to your audience and then it's there's SO for ME,
I APPRECIATE the representation of being in love, lust, limerance, at a young teen age, a coming of age of inevitable trauma, cause WEVE ALLLL BEEEN THERE, and for me it ACTUALLLLLLLLLYY WORKKKS that Armie Hammer is in this film, cause for me he represents one of those public people in the world who ***"thinks***** their behaviour is driven by consent and care, but is actually not looking at the MACRO lens of the situation, and how his actions impacts others, performative consent if you will
ANYWAYS I love this film,I love the music, I love the performances, the writing, and I love summer and Italy and if you ever seen me in real life I LOVE YELLOW, BLUE, and RED, ok who cares byyyyeeiii
