WORKING WOMAN EDITORIAL PHOTOSHOOT 📸

As the graduating Fashion Arts and Business students complete their final projects, editorial photo shoots are taking center stage. 📸 With just a few weeks until graduation, six students from the program have curated, designed, and executed a striking “sophisticated working woman” themed shoot.

Everything you’re seeing in the photo was hand selected and sourced by the students making this a true student run project - with the help of some very talented professionals

HUMBER FASHION PHOTOSHOOT 📣📸

Wow, the graduating Fashion Arts and Business students are really knocking it out of the park with their incredible projects finishing off the program! This is an exceptional piece, done by a group of graduating students ~ completely curated, organized and with their creative eyes. We got the inside scoop of what it’s like to be a Student Model at Humber Polytechnic, lets hear from Melanie Walker🤩

“The photoshoot was a perspective that I never thought I could put myself in, in a way it was a very different approach to any photoshoot I’ve done but that’s what made it so unique. Our lead director Aleks has an amazing eye for fashion and really made the shoot come to life, that’s what really made it so enjoyable. Kim’s photo styling class is how we all learned how to do a great photoshoot. Kim has taught me and my peers what models, props, couture and photography is needed to make photoshoots fun and exciting, it makes it easy to stay focused when it’s something your passionate about and having a teacher just as passionate makes it much more enjoyable. Being at Humber Polytechnic has taught me to take more risks and to try different things and one would be modelling. I’m not sure if I want to continue modelling but it has opened my eyes into a whole different era of fashion I haven’t experienced before. I truly will take everything I have learned in each class and take it in to my future endeavours for the rest of my life” - Melaine Walker

HUMBER INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE REVIEW ✍🏻

Today we spoke to a graduating Fashion Arts and Business Student, Natalina Jbeily about her experince interning for the Humber Fashion as Project Manager.🤩

1.    How did the school prepare you for this internship experience?

Humber has prepared me for my internship role through in-class projects, classes, and in-class leadership opportunities.

2.    Were there specific skills or knowledge you learned in class that you’ve been able to apply in your internship?

“Skills that I have gained through classes that have allowed me to put forward include leadership, professionalism, and problem-solving skills.”

3.    How did the school connect you with this internship opportunity?

“Humber has connected me with this internship through its large significance and anticipation on FASH 251.”

4. Looking back on your internship experience, how do you feel the school’s support helped shape your professional growth or changed your perspective on your career path?

“My experience has allowed me to reach my full potential, especially with the help of my professors and faculty. Skills including professional, leadership, and critical thinking have flourished and had a large reflection of myself within my role. My perspective on my future endeavours after being experienced in this role has allowed me to understand that I can achieve my dreams because of the reflection of myself and personal outcomes in this role.”

5.    What advice would you give to future students regarding internships?

“Never shy away from an opportunity that you know is meant for you. No matter what got in your way in the past, there is always something better waiting for you. If you are looking for a role, reach out to anyone and everyone and your role might just come to you!”

HUMBER FASHION 2024 WRAP UP📣🎉🎊

April 11th - We started the year off 2024 strong with the Méchant Fashion Show in April - a dynamic show drawing on the embodiment of a villain perspective

November 21st - Once the Fall semester begun, Humber students held an Eco Closet event where they collected secondhand clothing from the Humber community and we sold it giving clothes another chance of life. This event was hosted by the graduating class of Fashion Arts and Business, supervised and aided by program coordinator

November 21st - Immediately following the Eco Closet event, “Humber Style Icon” took place, this was an immersive styling session where fashion students displayed clothes on live models (student models) showing examples of how they can elevate their outfits. This event was hosted by the graduating class of Fashion Arts and Business, supervised and aided by Professor

December 4th - Our first year Fashion Arts and Business students held their first event - “Fashion Museum” where they showcased their personal curated museum, entitled “Treasures” This event was supervised and aided by program coordinator

December 4th - the Lakeshore campus also did a “Fashion History Museum Exhibit” as a part of their Fashion History course. This event was hosted by fashion management students, but led by

December 5th - The Lakeshore campus held a Fashion Technology event as their final project, giving us a look into the future of fashion. This event was hosted by Fashion Management students aided by professor and .alnawab
