The Fergus Medieval Faire was a great time, as always and we loved being a part of the Viking Village.

A charming spinner bought one of our most recent whorl reproductions, and then came back to show us how it was performing. Amazing!!

This is a curious thing! Found in the remains of a Viking settlement in eastern Greenland, it is considered an embroidery needle.

I wonder at that, as to me, it looks more like net-making needle. I created two reproductions from some cow scapula.

Looking forward to this coming Saturday! We’ll be taking our Viking crafts of Cellar Hoard to the Medway Heritage Festival in London, Ontario.

Come to a great museum, the Museum of Ontario Archaeology, and the vendors at the festival -including birds of prey, a pit firing of pottery, wood turning, a bee workshop! Drumming/dancing and singing.

We are delighted to attend the upcoming Medway Heritage Festival!

The festival takes place on Saturday, June 13th from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Museum of Ontario Archaeology, in London Ontario

The location is 1600 Attawandaron Rd. London tucked away in a neighbourhood in Northwest London, near Fanshawe Park rd. and Wonderland rd.

As long as it is not raining, we will be outdoors at the Lawson Site. If it is raining, most of the event will move indoors to the building, though be prepared to be outdoors if it's just a sprinkle or short shower.

We hope to have our usual Viking reproduction selection of textile tools (spindles and whorls, needles, shuttles, tablet cards), stone lamps, beads and drinking horns.

We’ve also created more pottery stamps including some inspired by pottery imprints on 15th century indigenous finds.

Had a commission for a Frisian (pre Viking period) bone belt buckle.

I was not happy with the decoration of my first work, and felt the need to tweak it to just a triangle border. That led me to make another, more in keeping to the original design.

The original is about 5cm long and is the inspiration for mine (about 8cm long and will fit a belt up to 2.1 cm wide)

Also felt a few simple bone tab ends would be useful.

Made some more pewter amulets based off my reproduction of the Trendgarden mold.

The original mold was made in 10th century Denmark and is well known for its molds for a Thor’s hammer, two style of crosses and ingots.

However, I modified some of the Thor’s hammers to recreate the “anchor” pendants found in the Jorvik and Hedeby sites.

We’ve been asked a few time for heavier spinning whorls. Behold some chonky whorls, each approximately over 30grams.
