Named for UTSC's inspirational drama instructor, Leigha Lee Browne, and designed by one of Canada's foremost architects, Peter J. Browne Theatre has been a venue for public performance since 1993, when its first audience witnessed Shakespeare's The Tempest as directed by Professor Michal Schonberg. Fast forward almost twenty years and the L.L. Browne Theatre continues to produce excellence in performance, ranging from classical Indian dance, and student productions such as Kat Sandler's Sucker, shows such as Bertolt Brecht's The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, directed by Professor Barry Freeman, to lectures and master classes. It is the central hub for performance and an experiential education laboratory for the Theatre and Performance Studies program.
