BEETLEJUICE ALTERNATE — SELECT PERFORMANCES

"The Burton Experience" is a theatrical, interactive Halloween event celebrating the spooky and spectacular world of Tim Burton.

Now entering its 4th year in Toronto and 2nd year as a co-production with Fabulist Theatre and the Novotel Hotel, the event combines spooky cocktails, mouth-watering food, interactive games, photo opportunities, and plenty of live entertainment.
We are currently seeking an actor to portray Beetlejuice as an alternate performer for select performances throughout October.

THE ROLE
BEETLEJUICE — Alternate
We are looking for a confident, charismatic performer with strong comedic instincts, stage presence, and the ability to engage directly with an audience in an interactive environment.
Experience with musical theatre, comedy, improv, character performance, or live events is an asset.

PERFORMANCE DATES
Sundays — 5:00 PM–9:30 PM
October 4
October 18
October 25
Thursdays — 5:00 PM–11:30 PM
October 15
October 22 (potentially)
October 29
Performance times are:
Thursdays: 5:30 PM / 7:30 PM / 9:30 PM
Sundays: 5:30 PM / 7:30 PM
The schedule includes 30 minutes of paid preparation and wrap-up time before and after the performances.

COMPENSATION
$25/hour
All scheduled performance/event hours are paid, including preparation and wrap-up time.
There will also be two paid rehearsals, approximately 3 hours each.

AUDITION — SELF-TAPE
Please submit a self-tape containing two contrasting selections:
1. Beetlejuice / Musical Theatre Selection
A cut of “The Whole ‘Being Dead’ Thing” from Beetlejuice: The Musical.
2. Spooky Song of Your Choice
A rock, pop, musical theatre, or Halloween/spooky-inspired song that showcases your personality, vocal ability, and performance style.
You do not need to recreate the original Beetlejuice performance exactly. We are interested in seeing your interpretation of the character, your comedic timing, stage presence, and ability to connect with an audience.

The characters are a natural match, and Bennett and Cotton emphasize their opposite energy; the former’s deadpan reluctance and still, ethereal body language a good foil for the latter’s explosively crude eagerness that causes him to careen around the room."
