Last night we celebrated another sold-out SMASH event! ✨

Over 400 guests came together for an unforgettable evening in support of the Gardiner's Community Access Fund, making hands-on art experiences more widely available.

An incredible line up of creatives transformed the Museum with immersive installations and participatory activations. Thank you to Acid4Yuppies (Arnie Guha), Jess Riva Cooper, Beckie Di Leo, Alan Gertner, Natalie Laura King, DJ Dre Ngozi, Véronique Sunatori, and Shellie Zhang.

We're grateful to our Event Co-Chairs Charlotte Howe and Liam Randhawa; members of the Gardiner's Next Generation, our hosts for the evening; as well as our Event Partners: Bondi Produce, Superkül and Torys LLP.

Our Catering Partner, The Food Dudes delighted guests with delicious bites, and our Hospitality Partners Collective Arts Brewing and Corby Spirit and Wine kept the drinks flowing. Takeaways from our Gift Bag Sponsors DECIEM The Abnormal Beauty Company will keep guests glowing long after the party ends.

Thank you to everyone who attended and brought your energy to the party! View the full album here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1278047967870000&type=3

Last weekend we hosted our sold-out ICAF 2026 Symposium. Thank you to all the presenters, partners, and everyone who joined us. We're still feeling inspired and energized!

Supported by the Raphael Yu Centre of Canadian Ceramics, the symposium brought together artists and thought leaders from Canada and beyond for an expanded dialogue around the theme of the city and the commons.

The event kicked off on Friday with a brick making workshop led by ROSEMARY Gallery and a keynote prestation by designer and activist Ronald Rael, followed on Saturday by a full day of presentations and a hands-on activation by Artist in Residence Jess Riva Cooper.

Building on ceramics’ rich connections to land, the built environment, and social relations, the presenters reflected on what it means to be in common as we create new spaces of belonging.

We're already looking forward to our next symposium!

Discover incredible international talent at the International Ceramic Art Fair (ICAF), on now at the Gardiner Museum!

As part of this year's fair, we're excited to present the imaginative ceramics of Los Angeles-based artist Sharif Farrag. The works on view continue Farrag's Garden Jar series, a diaristic practice where he freestyles pseudo-narratives on and through classical vase shapes. In these pieces, Farrag transfers the sculptures to the wall for the first time.

Blending personal mythology with the energy of a dense urban environment, his vessels serve as a canvas for bold glaze studies and whimsical iconographies—look closely to spot a doodle-striped zebra or a mug from his own studio desk. Farrag merges traditional ceramic styles with improvisational techniques to express his hybrid Syrian-Egyptian-American identity, exploring growth, decay, and and personal experience.

See Farrag’s incredible storytelling in person. Visit our website for ICAF tickets: https://www.gardinermuseum.on.ca/event/international-ceramic-art-fair-2026/
