IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the inaugural Taste of Little Jamaica.

Over the past several months, we have worked closely with the City of Toronto and community partners throughout the event planning and permitting process. While every effort was made to move the event forward, we were ultimately unable to secure all of the approvals required to proceed this year.

Although we are deeply disappointed, we respect the City’s permitting process and appreciate the time and collaboration of everyone involved.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our vendors, performers, sponsors, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who expressed excitement about celebrating the culture, cuisine, and spirit of Little Jamaica with us.

Our team will be contacting confirmed vendors and partners directly regarding next steps.

While this year’s event will not move forward as planned, our commitment to celebrating and uplifting the Little Jamaica community remains strong. We look forward to bringing this vision to life in 2027.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support.

— The Taste of Little Jamaica Team

Taste the Caribbean supports the recognition of July as Caribbean Heritage Month in Canada.

Caribbean culture is an integral part of Canada’s multicultural fabric. For generations, Caribbean Canadians have enriched our country through their contributions to arts, culture, business, education, public service, sports, healthcare, and countless other fields. Our legacy deserves to be celebrated and recognized.

This national recognition is long overdue. With more than one million Canadians who trace their roots to the Caribbean, the community has made a profound impact on Canada’s social, cultural, and economic landscape, yet remains underrepresented and too often overlooked.

Bill S-248, the Caribbean Heritage Month Act, introduced by the Honourable Senator Paulette Senior, would officially designate July as Caribbean Heritage Month in Canada if passed by Parliament. This legislation represents an important step toward recognizing the enduring contributions and heritage of Caribbean Canadians.

This July, Caribbean festivals, parades, and cultural celebrations will take place in communities across the country. We encourage everyone to join in the celebrations, experience the warmth of Caribbean hospitality, and learn more about the rich cultures, histories, and traditions that continue to shape Canada.

🚨BREAKING: Bill S-248, Caribbean Heritage Month Act, advances in the Senate of Canada.

On June 9, 2026, Senator Paulette Senior presented Bill S-248 for Second Reading (debate in the Senate on the bill). After the Senator’s speech, Senator Leo Housakos, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Canada (Conservative), shared his support for the Bill and called for an immediate vote - and Second Reading was passed in the Senate! The Bill was then referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology.

This recognition of Canada’s Caribbean community is long overdue. Despite over one million Canadians from or with family origins in the Caribbean, the community remains underrepresented, unappreciated, and unrecognized. Many other ethnocultural and religious communities in Canada have been recognized by the federal government with an awareness month designation. Canada’s Caribbean community deserves to have its distinct culture and contributions to the nation recognized and celebrated.

🇬🇾 GUYANA 60 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE 🇬🇾
1966–2026 | Celebrating 60 Years of One People, One Nation, One Destiny

From the rich cultures and traditions that shape our identity, to the resilience, achievements, and spirit of the Guyanese people — today we celebrate six decades of independence, unity, and progress.

Here’s to the vibrant heartbeat of Guyana, our music, food, history, and the generations that continue building a brighter future.

May we continue to honour our roots while embracing the possibilities ahead.

Proudly celebrating 60 years of freedom, culture, and national pride.
