Ontario Pops Orchestra The Ontario Pops Orchestra is a professional Canadian orchestra based in Toronto. The Ontario Pops Orchestra is a nonprofit organization. Engaging music for all.

We are the only orchestra in Ontario dedicated to light classical and popular music. Now in its inaugural season, the Orchestra hopes to continue its growth by providing more performance and development opportunities for musicians, and by increasing engagement with communities across Ontario. The Ontario Pops seeks to enrich the lives of local musicians through professional leadership, performance

opportunities, and carefully selected repertoire, fostering musicianship in a positive and supportive environment. By sharing popular, light classical, Broadway, film, and other symphonic music with Ontario communities, we hope to engage a large and diverse audience with high-quality music of broad, inspirational appeal, and educational value. One month to go until Mozart Extravaganza.

Join the Ontario Pops Orchestra for a special evening celebrating the timeless music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Maestro Carlos Bastidas, the concert will also welcome internationally acclaimed guest conductor Maestro Eduardo Diazmuñoz from Mexico and distinguished clarinetist Przemyslaw Raczynski.

The program will feature:

• Overture to Il Re Pastore
• Clarinet Concerto in A Major
• Symphony No. 35 “Haffner”

Celebrate 20 years of Avatar: The Last Airbender with a special live concert experience in Toronto.

Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert – 20th Anniversary Tour combines a live orchestral performance with a two-hour visual journey featuring memorable moments from the animated series.

The concert includes original dialogue and sound effects, while Emmy Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman’s score is performed live and synchronized with scenes shown on a full-size cinema screen.

This anniversary edition also includes new surprises, extended musical pieces, and special additions created for the 20th Anniversary Tour.

Meet Maestro Carlos Bastidas — the conductor behind Sunday's concert.
Internationally recognized for his artistry and vision, Maestro Bastidas currently leads two of Canada's most dynamic orchestras: the Canada Virtuoso Ensemble and the Ontario Pops Orchestra. He holds the title of Conductor Emeritus of the Durham Chamber Orchestra and has guest conducted across the Americas — from Cuba and Mexico to a sold-out festival appearance in Colombia in April 2026. He has also been invited to conduct the Cairo Symphony Orchestra in Egypt in June 2027.
In 2019, he was named one of the 10 Most Influential Hispanics in Canada and received the Transformation Award for Heritage. His recording Breaking Barriers reflects his lifelong commitment to diverse musical traditions and cultural inclusion.
