"You are invited to take in an afternoon of ambient interstellar electroacoustic drift vibes. Cosmic Homeostasis is an artistic collective that gathers for the purpose of creating large-ensemble improvised drone-based music. Mixing performers with diverse musical backgrounds and experience levels, performances create space to develop improvisatory skills through listening while constructing unique sonic environments.

New and experienced listeners of all ages are always welcome — feel free to bring your knitting/sketchbook/etc.
For performers, please note this is not an ""open jam"", but newcomers are always welcome: email Joe ([email protected]) for more info.

There will be two sets of music, starting shortly after 2:30, and with a short break in the middle.

PWYC / all are welcome / help us listen to whispers from space "

"Sympathetic String Band’s back at the Tranzac on Sunday, August 30th, and we’re happy to say we’ll be joined by a master of Indonesian music, Andrew Timar! Andrew is a Toronto-based composer, multi-instrumentalist and gamelan music educator. Andrew has made a name for himself as a master of the suling, having been dubbed “North America’s leading suling player” by prominent Sundanese composer Nano Suratno. He has performed with artists such as Jon Hassell and Brian Eno and produced works for film and stage productions. He co-founded the Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan in 1983, which has toured internationally, performing traditional and contemporary gamelan works. Andrew is the first Canadian to be awarded the Indonesian AKI prize for cultural contributions in Indonesia.

Andrew will be joining us on the kacapi - a traditional Sundanese zither instrument. Expect a solo set from Andrew and a group improvisation with the Sympathetic String Band.

7:30-9:30pm in the Tranzac’s Southern Cross. PWYC. "

Come have a drink with us this August!

We know August is busy. Cottages, vacations, patios, trying to soak up every last bit of summer.

But if you’re around, one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to support Tranzac during our quieter summer months is simply to come by, see a show and buy a drink at the bar.

And this month, the stars have aligned.

Our rotating tap is Willibald Roses Pale Ale (5%), brewed with Southern Cross hops.

Southern Cross in the Southern Cross? We couldn’t resist. And neither should you.

Come have a pint, catch some music and support the Tranzac!

(And for those of you who don’t drink, we’ve got plenty of non-alcoholic options at the bar too. Come have a drink with us, whatever your drink of choice!)
