This is one of my favourite parts of the sculpture process. No joke. I very much enjoy thinking about all the work that went into a sculpture while I chop it apart so I can melt it down and reuse it.

Its just part of the creative life cycle and it gives me time to imagine what I will make next.

RED HOOD VS DEATHSTROKE or maybe a team up!?!

Either way I'm pretty dang pleased with these two. Still lots of little things to do on the Red Hood (mostly little things that I only noticed once the paint went on).

My version is way less techy than the one, but I like the simple style I went with, it feels more like a real life version of the comic book drawings. What do you think??

Oooh this is the moment that makes all that sanding worth it.

With the news of
Coming back for reshoots on Justice League I had to do a little work on my project.

I've taken a break from most personal projects because work has been really busy lately but I figured I'd tape this up and give it a spray with what is now my new favourite spray paint.

Once this side has had ample time to dry, I'll do the black side and the back plate in a matte spray, then with those textures on the helmet, I'll be able to mold it.

Nearly ready to start molding the this monster.

I've been thinking about how I want to mold this helmet for a while and I think I've landed on a decent solution. It will be a two part mold with a seam down the back where it will be easier to clean up any mold lines.

Hopefully I'll be able to have a casting out before season 2 of The Witcher starts... But work is crazy right now so we'll see..

My friend says no one likes sanding, but I'm going to partially disagree. I sometimes find it to a really soothing and rewarding part of my job. Sometimes though, he's absolutely right 😂!

Yesterday was a good day though. I refined the eyes and carved out the panel lines while I waited for the free from air to cure on the parts of the back plate that needed some fixing. I can't wait to try the new fast curing version of free form.

I promise this isn't an ad, give it a try. It's good stuff. Wear gloves and a respirator and have good ventilation! Safety first.

Thank you all so much for your support and kind words on my last post. It honestly meant the world to me.

When I'm upset I can usually find solace in my work. I find keeping my hands busy is a great distraction.

I split my Saturday between this and a commission I haven't shared much of yet.

Still tons of smoothing and sanding and fixing to do, but the Red Hood is starting to take shape.

Also thanks to
For the share the other day!!

This week has been really hard and its taken me a while to process it.
We said goodbye to Angus on Wednesday. He was my best friend and I'll miss him more than I can say.
He lived a full life to the ripe old age of 15 and a half years. He cheated death nearly a decade ago after getting hit by a car and walking himself home on broken bones and road rash.
I spent weeks and months helping him recover from that horrible accident because we knew he had many more good years left to live. On Wednesday I held his paw and scratched his scruff when his true time finally came. I cried then and I'm crying now but I know he lived a good life and I'll forever be happy to have shared it with him.

❤️

Bear with me, in the next little while I'll be posting pictures and videos of my sweet little buddy.

Demolding the casting of the Red Hood. Pretty lumpy, but overall it's looking good.

Lots of filling and sanding to do, but first I have to cut the back plate off and figure out the magnets!

Ok, as promised, here it is with sound!!

Oooh so satisfying!

I added another two sets of low profile magnets to the corners by the ears to keep alignment nice and tight. I think I'll swap out the thicker bar magnets for the thin ones on the final product.

It's almost perfectly smooth, one more pass with the ultrafine sandpaper and some spot putty and it should be good to go for molding!
