Happy 4th of July to our 🇺🇸 friends!
Hope those in New York enjoyed the flyover by our beloved Canadian Forces Snowbirds and our good friends at the RAF Red Arrows.
Happy 250th!

We flew over New York Harbor with our allies today, part of the international flypast marking 250 years of the United States.

We’ve stood side by side with our American allies for generations; through NORAD, sharing the watch over this continent every day, through NATO, training and operating shoulder to shoulder, and through the conflicts and deployments we’ve faced together over the years. Proud to mark this milestone alongside an ally we know so well. Happy 250th, USA.

So many of our favorite air show memories start with a dad holding a little one on their shoulders to catch their very first glimpse of a fighter jet roaring across the sky. The love for aviation is a tradition passed down through generations.

Looking for the ultimate late Father's Day gift? Treat him to an unforgettable day on the Toronto waterfront this Labor Day weekend.

While Canada doesn't operate this multi-role fighter in its front-line fleet, the F-16 plays a massive role in training the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). In fact, Canadian defense partners use the F-16 as advanced "aggressor" aircraft to train our CF-18 pilots for modern combat operations.

You’ll be able to witness the incredible capabilities of this jet right over the Toronto waterfront! Pushing speeds up to Mach 1 and pulling a mind-boggling 9Gs, it will showcase extreme high-speed maneuvers, precision handling, and tactical climbs that will shake the shoreline.

06/10/2026

Have you ever wondered how air show pilots stay perfectly spaced while flying upside down at hundreds of miles per hour? It's not luck, a big factor is "line of sight" reference points.

Pilots don't look at the horizon; they lock their eyes onto specific parts of their wingman's aircraft (like a bolt on a canopy or a paint line on the fuselage). By keeping that exact visual alignment, they can maintain formations tighter than the length of a car, even during intense G-force maneuvers!

Come see precision flying at its absolute finest this September. 🇨🇦

If you look up tomorrow, Monday, June 8th, and see military fighter jets intercepting a small aircraft over the city, do not be alarmed!

This is a planned, routine training exercise in preparation for the upcoming World Cup matches at Toronto Stadium. Two Canadian fighter jets will be conducting a practice interception, directing a contracted small aircraft to land at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. As experts note, this is standard training to keep our skies safe and secure. Keep your eyes on the skies tomorrow, it’s not an air show practice just yet, but a chance to see our Canadian Forces at work.

We are excited to welcome a familiar face back to the Toronto waterfront for 2026. Mike Tryggvason is returning to the Canadian International Air Show, debuting a new Edge 540 V3 racer aircraft.

The Edge is one of the last to roll off the Zivko production line in 2010 for the Red Bull Air Race series. Its new mission is split now between Air Race X, the world’s fastest motorsport, and air show demonstration flying. With a top speed of 240 knots, a roll rate faster than 450 degrees per second, and more than 325 horsepower, it’s the pinnacle of high performance aerobatic aircraft.

Many of our fans will recognize Mike from our 2025 show, where he served as the precision pilot for wingwalker (and Wife) Sam Tryggvason

We can’t wait to see his incredible performance over Lake Ontario once again 🌟

DYK? That iconic smoke trail behind our aerobatic performers isn’t exhaust, it’s actually a specialized mineral smoke oil. 💨 The industry has made many environmental advancements in making modern smoke oil low-toxicity, sulfur-free, and biodegradable.

When the pilot flips a switch, the oil is injected into the hot exhaust of the engine, creating the thick white "smoke" that helps you track their path through complex loops and tumbles. It’s as much a safety tool for the pilots to see each other as it is a visual treat for the fans!

Taking a trip back to 1985 for this week’s .

This vintage poster features the legendary Art Scholl, a true icon of the aerobatic world. Art was a staple of the Canadian International Air Show, known for his unmatched precision, his charismatic flying style, and his unmistakable Super Chipmunk.

Looking back at this reminds us of the rich history that paved the way for the high-performance demonstrations we see over the Toronto waterfront today. The Canadian International Air Show can proudly say we are the world’s longest consecutive running Air Show (Including a virtual Air Show in 2020) and we’re excited to continue the Labour Day tradition for years to come.

ICYMI: We are bringing a high-performance mission to the Toronto waterfront this year with the arrival of The Pink Jet.

This Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros is much more than a striking paint scheme; it is a legendary military trainer capable of speeds exceeding 900 km/h. Flown by a team of veteran aviators, this jet travels across North America to turn the excitement of flight into a powerful message of hope and breast cancer awareness. Keep an eye on the flight line to see this iconic silhouette in person during the show!

The Pink Jet

03/24/2026

We are excited to welcome a new performer to the CIAS waterfront this year, The Pink Jet!

While her striking colour is what first catches the eye, this aircraft is a high-performance Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatros—a legendary Czechoslovakian-built military trainer known for its sleek lines and incredible agility. Capable of speeds over 500 knots and pulling up to 8Gs, the L-39 has been the backbone of fighter pilot training for decades.

Today, this specific Albatros has been repurposed for a mission far beyond the flight line. Flown by a team of highly experienced military and civilian aviators, she serves as a flying ambassador for breast cancer awareness, early detection, and support from the non-profit organization called The Pink Jet. Watching this high-performance jet carve through the sky is a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of those fighting the disease on the ground.

DYK: The Canadian International Air Show hosts a free-to-the-public STEM Zone right on the grounds of Marilyn Bell Park. While the main show thrills the sky, this interactive area is where the next generation of aviators, engineers, and scientists can get hands-on experience. From flight simulators and VR aerospace experiences to getting up close with cockpits and speaking with real-world industry professionals.

It’s designed to turn "lookers" into future "flyers." No ticket is required to enter, making it the perfect family-friendly stop during your Labour Day weekend.

Add it to your list to stop in, we’d love to welcome you! Simply look for the big red entrance gates on the West side of our Air Show zone.

DYK: You may have seen these incredible birds of prey at our Exclusive Air Show Zone at the CIAS, but do you know their job?

They’re part of Falcon Environmental’s professional wildlife management team at Pearson International. They work with trained raptors like falcons and hawks to help deter flocks of nuisance birds around runways and airspace. This natural, humane method supports safer skies for aircraft operations, using the birds’ instinctive behavior to keep other birds at bay 🦅

Whether you’re watching them at CIAS or seeing them around the airport, these birds play a big role in aviation safety.
