Since 2003, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame has inducted some of Canada's most influential songs and songwriters such as, Gordon Lightfoot, Robert Charlebois, Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings, Claude Léveillée, Leonard Cohen, Gilles Vigneault, Joni Mitchell, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Paul Anka, Claude Dubois, Rush, Robbie Robertson, Luc Plamondon, and many more. The Hall of Fame was founded in 1998 by Canadian music publisher Frank Davies, and is a partnership of the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) and the Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.), with the assistance of the Société professionnelle des auteurs et des compositeurs du Québec (SPACQ) and Association des professionnels de l'édition musicale (APEM). In 2011, SOCAN (the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) moved to strengthen the Hall of Fame, supporting the preservation of this rich and unique musical heritage for years to come and ensuring that Canadian songwriters and their music continue to be honoured and celebrated.
