The THEATRE LAB is an artist-driven theatre company.

We search for, explore, sponsor and create new works that are meaningful to us. The THEATRE LAB is particularly concerned with ‘new voices’ and artists that are committed to challenging themselves, and the public, with engaging material. The THEATRE LAB is dedicated to new experimental work, original Canadian plays and the creation of new devised pieces in our own aesthetic.

The THEATRE LAB functions as a large umbrella, reaching out and gathering resources and like-minded artists.

- A production season with fully realized works
- Workshop presentations of pieces still in development
-Artist development workshops & explorations in artist training

-Co-productions with like-minded companies
-Facilitation of works developed outside The THEATRE LAB
-Rental of THEATRE LAB space to other artists or companies
-Engagement of both new and established artists
-Community and audience development through fundraisers and outreach

The Theatre Lab is a resident company at Collective Studio, in Toronto - serving as both a community arts hub, as well as their new permanent home (est. 2012). With a renewed focus on development as well as creating, the Theatre Lab and Collective Studio will be producing new works by both emerging and established Canadian artists. http://www.collectivestudio.ca/

SO PROUD to find out that Theatre Lab - run by our very talented grads Michael Orlando and Sigrid Velis - took home not one but TWO Canadian Comedy Awards for their production of The Adventures of Tom Shadow! Congrats, guys!!
