It’s been a minute since the last Spoken Soul Festival, and we’re bringing it to Scarborough as part of our Scarborough The Backbone exhibit for
Rain or shine, we’re bringing fire to the stage, and it’s absolutely free!!
Featuring our headliner: Toronto singer/songwriter , performs R&B. Pulling from Lauryn Hill, Jazmine Sullivan and H.E.R, Dey’s sound can be described as smooth vocals over minimal-production.
Born in Jamaica, raised in Toronto, Dey enhanced her talent and skills by attending inner city programs in the downtown core. After working through the devastating loss of her sister in late 2015, Dey transferred her thoughts and emotions into her craft, putting her heart, mind and soul into her following releases. Dey’s single release for “3:44” (2017) marked her emergence on to the R&B scene with playlist recognition Apple Music’s Ebro in the Morning (Beats 1), Breaking R&B, and Hot Up in the 6ix. Dey’s following EP, Black Bouquet, has been compared to the likes of R&B singer, H.E.R. Black Bouquet features the single, “Crazy”, gained over 60K listens on SoundCloud and supported by Toronto’s R&B radio station Flow 93.5 and G98.7
