Peter Laneas survived testicular cancer. Twice. He’s done the advocacy, the comedy stages, the TV cameras. The man has earned a celebration.

So naturally, he’s getting roasted! 🙃

50 GREAT BALLS OF RAPID FIRE is exactly what it sounds like - one night, one stage, and a room full of people who love Peter enough to absolutely destroy him. It all goes down Wednesday, July 1st. Canada Day. Because nothing says national pride like watching a 50-year-old get torched by his closest friends.

Leading the charge is a lineup that came to play: Alex Brovo, Anna Sebastien, Dimi Kolovopoulos, Kristin Doucet, Luke Witt, Morgan Spiers, Rob Browne, Scott McInnes, and Zillah Marie Ferguson, with Nick Bovolaneas hosting the whole beautiful disaster. Mercy is not on the menu.

And when the last joke lands, nobody’s going home. DJ Donovan takes over for an Electric Circus throwback dance party - the music that raised half of you. You know who you are.

Here’s the part that actually matters: every ticket helps fund the Sexual and Gender Diversity in Cancer Care Program (SGDc) at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, helping LGBTQ+ patients get the care they deserve. Laughs for a good cause. Hard to beat that.

Doors open at 7PM, the roast starts at 8PM, and the dancing runs until midnight at the El Mocambo, 464 Spadina Ave. Tickets are $35 early bird, $40 online, and $50 at the door.

Come for the roast, stay for the party, and don’t expect Peter to walk out with his dignity. That left the building weeks ago.

Legendary Event Space. Empowering Causes.

What a truly unforgettable night Under The Neon Palms at the El Mocambo.

Together, we helped raise an incredible $173,000 in support of CANFAR’s in-community implementation programs, helping advance vital HIV prevention, testing, care, and support initiatives across Canada.

This achievement would not have been possible without the passion, creativity, and tireless dedication from so many incredible people behind the scenes. Thank you to our amazing champions Patricia, Alison, Celine, Nadia, and Meag for helping bring this event to life.

A huge thank you as well to the incredible ESP Inc. team — Jenna, Olivia, Chad, and Ryan — for executing another flawless event experience. Your attention to detail and consistency continue to set the standard in this industry.

To the entire CANFAR team, thank you for your endless hard work and commitment in making this night possible. It was an honour serving as Co-Chair, and we already cannot wait for the 30th Anniversary celebration next year.

And of course, thank you to for always capturing all the magic.

🌴 ELMO FACT 🌴

In just two years, the El Mocambo stage hosted a lineup that reads like a rock and roll hall of fame. Between 1978 and 1979 alone, audiences saw Devo, The Runaways, The Ramones, Blondie, Lou Reed, Joe Jackson, Sam and Dave, and Goddo - all under the neon palms on Spadina.

This was the golden era of the El Mo, when punk, new wave, soul, and rock collided on one legendary stage night after night.

The history lives on, and the stage is still here.
