The Nordic Connect delegates have arrived in Toronto from 🇪🇪 & 🇫🇮 and met their Canadian counterparts over welcome dinner - paired with some music, of course!

And today you get to exchange ideas with them. We start at 4pm at the Nordic Connect Conference: Networking Mixer at Small World Centre.

Tomorrow we head over to KESKfEST tent for our NCC Keynote | Music Without Borders: Diaspora, Diplomacy and the Power of Connection at 10am.

Bringing together an artist, agent, cultural programmer and human rights advocate, this keynote conversation will explore how music and cultural exchange can promote resilience and social cohesion. How cultural communities in Canada, the Baltics and beyond are navigating changing security dynamics and international alliances.

Moderated by the CBC’s Tom Allen, this Estonian Music Week and Nordic Connect Conference (NCC) event connects the industry meet with the wider KESKfEST celebrations.

Introduction by Estonia's Assistant Deputy Minister of Culture, Eda Silberg.

Jutta Brendemühl - Program Curator of the Goethe-Institut Toronto, writer and consultant with a focus on international cultural exchange.

Marichka - Ukrainian-Canadian singer, ethnomusicologist, war journalist and producer whose work stands at the intersection of music, human rights and cultural diplomacy.

Marcus Kolga - Canadian journalist, human rights advocate, and internationally recognized expert on foreign disinformation, influence operations, and transnational repression.

Ewelina Ferenc - Toronto-based folk singer, ethnomusicologist, founder of Sweet Beets Music, and manager from Katowice, Poland.

🇨🇦 Toronto meets Tallinn 🇪🇪

Nordic Connect Conference (NCC), the industry platform of Estonian Music Week, returns August 20–21 for a special edition strengthening connections between the music industries of Toronto and Tallinn.

Presented by VEMU Estonian Museum Canada, NCC will bring together a curated group of artists, representatives, festivals, venues and music professionals to share knowledge, explore new opportunities and lay the groundwork for future collaboration.

Taking place as part of KESKfEST, this special edition celebrates a new chapter in cultural exchange between Canada and Estonia.

Our open call received an incredible response, and the conference is now at capacity.
But there are still two ways to join the conversation:

Apply to participate in a special edition of Nordic Connect Conference - presented by VEMU Estonian Museum Canada - focused on connecting the music industries of Toronto and Tallinn on August 21.
