Please feel free to read, post and contribute! Pollux is an orange giant star approximately 34 light-years from the Earth. It is the brightest star in the Gemini constellation; brighter than Castor, its twin. In Greek Mythology, Castor and Pollux were twin brothers; sons of Leda by Tyndareus and Zeus respectively; brothers of Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, and half-brothers of Timandra, Phoebe, H

eracles, and Philonoe. In the myth the twins shared the same mother but had different fathers, making Castor mortal and Pollux immortal. When Castor died, Pollux asked Zeus to let him share his immortality with his twin brother to keep them together. They were transformed into the constellation Gemini .
