Get yr root beer ready: the one & only MISSOURI EXECUTIVE ORDER 44 are travelling north to pay us a visit this September! Card-carrying mathcore psychopaths, the masked quartet preach in service of temperance, obedience, and the almighty, murderous power of The Riff. They are undoubtedly one of the finest operations in heavy music working today, possessing total command over their unique brand of incendiary sonic assault—simply put, you’d be foolish to miss them. Not to be upstaged, rising hardcore heroes DOGWHISTLE join the fray, in tandem with Hamilton’s own sass merchants CONSTRAIN & mysterious black metal outfit BOON making their debut appearance. With screamo summer still rolling onward, us punks at NFDIY have got you covered with another gig: a locals-only joint locked & loaded to stack an already-loaded weekend! Local honeys BODY NEST & BOXCUTTER embark on a brief jaunt through Eastern Canada next week, and we’ve got their return pencilled in for a little over 2 weeks from now! Joining them here at home are angular post-punk freaks LOST UNIT, as well as new bloods OVERCOAT. If recent appearances are anything to go off of, this one’s gonna be a rager—dance yr Friday night away!

Fest is over but the shows don’t stop! On September 5th, local mainstays FERN SULLY head up a stacked bill full of big singalongs and twinkly guitars. Together we’ll welcome Illinois’s outstanding alt rock outfit CLEMENTINE to Toronto. They’re joined by your favourite new band BOXING! and local emo stars JUMPING CONTEST. All this at one of the city’s best venues, Handlebar. Don’t miss out and grab advance tickets at a discount!

Wake up! It's the first of the month‼️🗣🔥💯

NFF'26 Day 2 is coming after a heater first day, we hope everyone's rested up and that some of you are enjoying a nice dip at the Christie Pits pool right now 🌊

Doors are earlier today and tomorrow than they were yesterday, we open at 4:00pm and INSOMNIAK will start on the big stage at 4:30pm, DON'T BE LATE!!!

EUDAEMON (MN)

Representing Minneapolis, emotional black metal devils Eudaemon are out to prove themselves as the latest torchbearers in a long & storied line of excellent bands that toe the line between true worship & screamo ecstasy. Fresh off a stint touring with the likes of Ragana & Sunrot, the quartet go for broke in their compositions, buoying their sprawling, jaw-droppingly proficient epics with vivid colour much like contemporaries in Senza & Agriculture. Cascading guitars flow alongside dizzying drum arrangements, the fireworks of endless riffs melting into an ocean of doom, searing vocals piercing through the whole spectacle—what’s not to like? This is black metal played with heart, vigour, and utter contempt for the rigidity of tradition. Comparisons aside, it’s immediately obvious to those who’ve already bore witness what Eudaemon brings to the NFF table; they’re bound to the same spectrum of passionate & emotional music that’s tied us all together to begin with. Catch them now before they finally ascend to the heights they’re clearly destined to reach.

IT'S ME! IT'S YOU! AND WE'RE DANCING (OR)

Portland, Oregon has long been the home of screamo’s most underrated scene, and bands like It’s You! It’s Me! And There’s Dancing!—yes, after the best Los Campesinos! song—prove that this thesis is still painfully true. Taking synth-soaked cues from the beating twee hearts of their namesake while touting the roaring vocals and Guitar Hero riffs that somehow put them closer to Titus Andronicus but keep them unmistakably rooted in punk, IY!IM!ATD! write relentlessly life-affirming screamo. This refreshingly new take nearly scans as orgcore with teeth, stripped of beer-drenched platitudes in favour of hard-earned tales of survival, like Springsteen burdened by the weight of transgender blues. The sextet manage to stay positive, but the journey’s taken its toll, and you can hear that desperation in every word, every note—it’s our responsibility to reward them at the end of a long road, ideally by mirroring the fist-pumping basement gig energy that they bring to their big, bright-eyed songs. “Tell Me All About It”, their 2026 effort, looks set to be a future classic—make it a point to witness their rising star.
