We are terribly excited to share with you that Megan from Lichen & Lace will be visiting us for a trunk show on Sunday, July 5th!

This is your rare chance to have access to Lichen & Lace yarn that we aren't able to fit into our stock at YU.

It's also your chance to meet Megan, the brains and heart behind Lichen & Lace, and the original owner of Lettuce Knit, the longtime beloved yarn shop that preceded us in Kensington Market!

🧶Every June we celebrate public crafting. No longer do we hide our WIPs in our bags on the subway, at the cafe, or the movies!

Real talk, it seems it's been a while since any of us were really too shy to knit or crochet in public, but when I was a brand new Torontonian, I certainly kept my projects out of sight on the TTC. I was afraid of drawing too much attention to myself! But eventually, I realized lots of folks knit and crocheted while en route and no one even looked twice.

This Saturday, you can be that shining model of creativity for another shy young thing who would rather knit than look at her phone or has trouble focusing on a conversation without their hook in hand. 🧶

So cool to see how the colours pooled for a while at the beginning and then the decreases distributed the colours a little differently resulting in skinny little stripes!

You never quite know exactly where the colours will land with a multicoloured hand-dyed yarn like this. We like striping it with a solid colour for larger garments, or even striping two skeins against each other to force the pools to dispel.

The Willow Cowl. Amelia's first published knitting pattern and still a longtime favourite. When it came time to pick a project for our new custom colourway "Nassau" from Lichen and Lace, this was the obvious choice (thanks Annabel).

It's a great pattern for mixing up a busy sock yarn, and we are enjoying the brief pooling at the beginning before some decreases turned the colours into skinny stripes.

Easy to wear and fun to knit, the Willow Cowl works year round as a layer under a coat, or something to keep you cozy on Canadian summer evenings.

The colourway "Nassau" will be sticking around so come grab yours from us if you haven't yet! And Amelia's pattern for the Willow Cowl is free from us with any sock yarn purchased in-person.

🚨FO Alert! 🚨

It's cozy, it's mega soft, it's snuggly and it's cotton! This Felix cardigan is made with Juniper Moon's AltoCumulus, a new bulky yarn for summer this year. It's a glorious boucle texture made with 92% cotton and 8% polyamide. The poly adds some stretch to the cotton so it's truly a summer sweater yarn. Easy to work with, and bananas yardage for a bulky, it's a favourite for this year for sure. Great for layering and not too hot.
