Azazello gave Margarita a magical cream to apply all over her body. She rubbed it in and transformed into a Witch, awakening a fierce inner courage and strength she never knew she had.

Before, she just wanted to be a normal, ordinary woman, a good wife and homemaker. But here, she meets her shadow self and feels an immense power. She meets her true self and sets herself free! It’s absolutely amazing how a woman acquires this kind of wholeness through a metaphor. Her past life was a self-deception, but now, there's no more pretending. She finally becomes herself.

In the novel, this happens literally: she flies out the window on a broomstick, heading to a great ball to be its guest of honor. But on her way, she makes a stop. She flies straight into the home of the critic who destroyed the Master's dreams and completely wrecks it. You should never make a woman that angry. You should never take away the love of her life!

After that, Margarita flies to the great ball of the underworld, where she has to endure brutal trials to be a successful hostess. She has to greet thousands upon thousands of witches, vampires, and lost souls without complaining, giving up, or showing any fatigue.

Would you be able to do something like that for the person you love?

Zheztırnaq is the first character of Kazakh mythology that appears. Appearing as a beautiful woman, her true form is that of a forest spirit.

Beautiful and seductive, Zheztırnaqs have long copper claws and lure hunters deep into the forest so they can deal with them cruelly.

Contrary to this, when Margarita finds herself at the Witches’ Sabbath the Zheztırnaqs gladly accept her into their ranks.
