Jezabel Bamberg (Jezabel Bamberg) is a Brazilian-Canadian screenwriter and 2026 CFC Comedy Lab alum. She’s written for Bell Fibe TV1’s I’m Also Here and 2Bed+Jen, and served as Festival Coordinator for the 2026 Canadian Film Fest and T.O. WebFest.

Now, she’s joining BITS to help emerging Canadian genre filmmakers connect, learn, and find their way through the festival together. Welcome to the team, Jezabel! 🎬

With experience ranging from leading tours at Scotiabank Arena to bringing characters to life at Casa Loma’s Legends of Horror, Lori knows how to keep a crowd entertained, a team moving, and unexpected surprises under control. A natural problem-solver with a great sense of humour, Lori joins the BITS team as our new Nightshift Coordinator, helping keep the festival’s evening activities running smoothly, no matter what lurks around the corner.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we remember the children who never came home, and honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families and their communities.

As a festival built on Canadian genre storytelling, we know stories can make people face what they’d rather not see. Indigenous storytellers have long used the screen, including horror and the speculative, to tell truths about this country that were ignored for too long. We stand with them, and with the work of keeping this truth in view: not only today, but every day we program, gather and share stories.

Blood in the Snow gathers in Tkaronto, on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. This land is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit. Tkaronto continues to be home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

Film submissions for Blood in the Snow 2026 close Thursday, October 1.

For our 15th year, fearless Canadian horror returns to the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto, November 16–21.

At BITS, we curate five distinct short film programs each year, in addition to our feature film lineup and opening shorts. We play a wide variety of Canadian horror, sci-fi, action, and thrillers. All submitted films are reviewed by our programming team.
