28 years and counting.
Our relationship with the Pacific National Exhibition began in 1999, designing lights for the first PNE Parade and the entertainment venue at Festival Park.
Over the years, our work at the Fair has evolved from lighting individual shows, to full-scale production designs, to an ongoing role as Lighting Director for the annual Fair — alongside some pretty unforgettable productions.
Throughout those 28 years, one of the constants has been our creative relationship with Patrick Roberge and Patrick Roberge Productions. Every one of our PNE projects has been created alongside Patrick and PRP, and we're incredibly grateful for a collaboration and friendship that has spanned nearly three decades of shows.
From Fire in the Night, Cirque Pop, Bring on the Night, Equestriana and Rollin’ Thunder, through Kaboom!, Pop City, Electric Fire, and now Remix Inferno, the PNE has been a constant part of our work for more than a quarter century.
It’s pretty remarkable to look back at how the scale, technology and possibilities have changed over that time — from the shows we were creating around the Fair grounds in the early years to the large-scale lighting, video, pyro and special-effects productions of today.
A lot has changed since 1999. The PNE is still one of our favourite places to make a show.
Tomorrow, another Fair begins.
28 years down. Still counting.
