Best Facebook marketplace score ever? I paid a very nice man $100 for this GR3770 Risograph printer and it came with 4 drums plus a couple inks (maybe still useable?) and a roll of master paper. I haven’t done that much riso printing but I’ve always wanted to add one to the shop after I took a workshop years ago at Colour Code Printing (highly recommend!!). Seems like I have my work cut out for me though with this old dusty lady, so any great resources or people I should follow I’d be grateful for your recommendations 🥰

September! Card! Of! The! Month!

Get back to school cool with a new membership to our card of the month club- get a letterpress card, wacky printed newsletter and a lil sticker or sumthin’ all nearly packaging and mailed to your doorstep.

We’ve also listed a whole bunch of new courses and workshops on our website for fall so if you’re not going back to school you can pretend and do one of the best things about being an adult- taking a class IN A SUBJECT YOU’RE KEEN ON!!! THATS ALL! I’m on vacation now til September 8!!

Trying to squeeze a little out of summer…

We will be closed this sat/sunday, and next Saturday/Sunday, and then we’re off to California for a little trip September 1-7th. We’ll still be open on Fridays regular hours and I’m in the studio most days so also open “by chance”- if the lights are on, I’m there so just knock :) if you want to stop by specifically to browse or chat just message me the day before to confirm a time.

Back to regular hours, lots of workshops and the usual after September 7! Yay!

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO BE HOSTING A HOLIDAY MARKET!!!!!!!!!! 🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁

We are looking for amazing and talented vendors to grace the first inaugural HOLIDAY ON BEACH HILL market. We have lots of fun holiday stuff in the works for the market which will be held in the Naval club, at 1910 Gerrard street east, just across the street from Flycatcher Press. Our neighbouring beach hill businesses Beach Hill will also be getting in on the action with open doors and festive spirits.

Such an honour to make this Linocut and letterpress poster for our friends Feldspar Ceramics to celebrate two years on the block!!!! We dropped by their party and it was a joy to see the community that they’ve created in their ceramics studio- so many smiles and laughs. Thanks to owners Jasmine and Zach for their trust in the Linocut process as I whipped this out last week!🥰👌 forever wishing my neighbours decades more of success in their creative small businesses, now go take a class!!!

A brief educationalish* video on how to use paper scraps in a letterpress studio (and have a bit of fun while you’re at it). Probably this video is longer than most people’s social media attention span but I thought it might be nice to narrate the steps clearly. But keep in mind that this whole process —from setting the type to cleaning up the press afterward— took (at a pretty leisurely pace) about 6ish hours. AND I have also been doing this for a number of years now! Printing forces you to take care and attention even when you’re just printing on “scraps”. Oh, and I usually just give these away to people who come into the shop.
