J.S Bach Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 No. 5 : Wie Soll Ich Dich Empfangen

Happy Christmas Eve! In celebration of the Holiday Season, 2021, Abreu Chamber Orchestra and Ricardo Ferro recorded choruses and arias from the Bach Christmas Oratorio BWV 248, in a program which also included works by Maurice Ravel, Richard Strauss, and Evan Tanovich. We will be sharing these recordings throughout the Christmas Season. Presented here is one of the choruses from the 1st Cantata "Wie Soll Ich Dich Empfangen." About the ensemble: The Abreu Chamber Orchestra takes its name after Venezuelan orchestral conductor, pianist, economist, educator, and activist José Antonio Abreu. Dr. Abreu is best known for his highly celebrated network of youth orchestras known as El Sistema, which have offered instruction in classical music to hundreds of thousands of disadvantaged children in Venezuela. To honor his legacy and continue his musical vision in the 21st century, the Abreu Chamber Orchestra aims to instigate social change and enliven music of the past and present for diverse audiences. The Orchestra offers emerging artists professional-like experiences to learn, perform and create.
