Trevor Silver is an entrepreneur, fashion designer, podcast host, and mentor from Nova Scotia whose work lives at the intersection of culture, community, and creativity. He is the founder of tREv, a fashion brand built on four core principles: trust, respect, education, and value. What began as clothing has grown into a broader platform for storytelling, dialogue, and impact. Trevor is also the host of the Turning Silver Into Gold podcast, where he explores resilience, mindset, and the real stories behind success through thoughtful conversations with creatives, leaders, and community builders. In parallel, he remains actively engaged in Africentric education and youth empowerment, working closely with organizations such as the Delmore “Buddy” Daye Learning Institute and One North End. His work reflects a long-term commitment to legacy, integrity, and building systems that help people turn potential into purpose.

Kardeisha Provo
Kardeisha Provo is a visual storyteller born and raised in North Preston, Nova Scotia. Kardeisha is an advocate for the youth of her community by creating life-long mentorship opportunities, helping youth find their own creative outlet and bridging barriers of communication. She has created a collective called Kaleidoscope Network that caters to sharing resources and expertise to creatives across the globe. In 2021, she released a short film titled “North Preston: The Untold Story” part of the Being Black in Canada Series which won Best Direction, Documentary Series at the 2022 Canadian Screen Awards. She speaks her truth and challenges the perception of the experiences of Black people in Canada.

Rev. Wallace Smith Sr.
Reverend Wallace Smith Sr. has served in ministry for over twenty years. His relationship with God and his relationship with music are forever intertwined. He was a founding member of The Gospel Heirs, one of Nova Scotia and Canada’s most beloved gospel groups until their retirement in 2003 after nearly 30 years. During his musical career, he has shared stages with Cissy Houston, the Winans, Shirley Caesar; he’s been a privileged performer with Symphony Nova Scotia; He is a former Pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Truro, NS. He is the First Ordained Minister under the Atlantic Baptist Convention having the privilege of serving in his home church and Community, Saint Thomas Baptist Church, North Preston. During his time at Saint Thomas Rev. Smith has had a profound impact on the church, sponsoring annual church picnics, prayer vigils, church anniversary services to name a few. Under the African United Baptist Association, he served in various capacities including Moderator. Rev. Smith has been inducted into the William P Oliver Wall of Honour; he is a recipient of the ANSMA Lifetime Achievement Award and a recipient of the 2022 Queen’s Jubilee Medal. After 21+ years of service, in August 2022, Rev. Smith retired as Senior Pastor of Saint Thomas Baptist Church. In October of 2023, he was called home but his legacy and impact continues to live on. Rev. Smith lived by the motto, “If I can help somebody, as I pass along the way, then my living shall not be in vain”.

She is the Founder and Executive Director of The PREP Academy, a registered charity serving over 400 African Nova Scotian youth per year, inspiring and preparing them to pursue college, university and apprenticeship. With over 10 years of combined experience working in corporate and non-profit industries, she has led strategy, fundraising, donor engagement, community outreach, student engagement, and program development - most importantly she leads her team with integrity and heart. Ashley is a CBC Black Changemaker and YMCA Peace Medal Recipient and identified as a New Founder to Watch by the Future of Good. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Preston, the YMCA of Greater Halifax and Dartmouth, the Saint Thomas Baptist Church Education Committee and participates on the African Nova Scotian Pathways Program Advisory Council for Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Engineering. Above all, she is a wife and sister.

What has he been up to since his last feature?

Since I was featured back in 2019, we’ve grown the team at Foundation to over 40 people. What I’m most proud of in this accomplishment is the culture we’ve built. One where people are able to thrive, do their best work, grow and develop themselves, and ultimately achieve success. Another thing I’m proud of is the launch of Distribution.ai, a new product I brought to market based on the philosophies of distribution that I’ve been talking about for years.

Daneesha Provo is a proud African Nova Scotian from North Preston, Nova Scotia. She is the Founder and CEO of the Daneesha Provo Canadian Basketball Academy (DPCBA). As a former member of Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team and professional basketball player, Daneesha has dedicated her post-athletic career to empowering young women through basketball, leadership development, and education. Recently, she secured a partnership with Nike Sports Camp Canada and has been invited to share her story at international platforms and high-profile speaking opportunities. Solitha Shortte is a creative director, producer, and talent strategist shaping fashion, media, and cultural storytelling in Nova Scotia and globally. A national of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (Bequia), she is based in Halifax, Canada, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration specializing in Marketing from Mount Saint Vincent University. She is the host of Style East, produced by Garnan Productions, and serves as Research Coordinator, Social Media Manager, and Stylist for the RPM series Champions. As Founder, Creative Director, Principal Agent, and Talent Coach of The House of Soli, she leads Soli Productions, Soli Coaching, and Soli Management. Under Soli Productions she founded Halifax Fashion Week and Fabric of Our DNA, which launched its first awards season in 2025 honouring Black and Indigenous Black Nova Scotian leaders.
