🚨 CANADA REJECTS U.S. CLAIMS AS TRUMP THREATENS NEW TARIFFS

The Canadian government says there is "no basis" for U.S. President Donald Trump's claim that Canada has failed to address concerns about forced labour, following his threat to impose new tariffs on Canadian goods.

The dispute comes after Trump warned that countries he believes are not doing enough to prevent goods produced with forced labour from entering their supply chains could face higher U.S. tariffs. In response, Ottawa said Canada has implemented strong measures to combat forced labour and continues to enforce import bans on goods produced through forced labour in accordance with its international trade obligations.

Federal officials said Canada remains committed to protecting human rights, strengthening supply chain transparency, and working with international partners to eliminate forced labour. They also maintain that the country's existing laws and enforcement measures do not justify the tariffs being proposed by the Trump administration.

The latest disagreement adds to ongoing trade tensions between Canada and the United States, as both countries continue negotiations over tariffs, trade policies, and the future of their economic relationship.

Do you think these proposed tariffs are justified, or should Canada challenge them through international trade rules?
