🥰 There is a wonderful expression in Spanish:
“Cada maestro tiene su librillo.”
“Every teacher has their own book of rules.” 📖
Those “rules” are shaped by a teacher’s experience, education, training, and personality. We all have our quirks… and this is one of the ways I happily nerd out! 🤓🥰
I’m a goal-oriented person with a degree in Psychology and over 20 years working in brain injury rehabilitation—all while building my Flamenco dance practice. So… what do you think I end up talking about in class? 😉💃
🥰 Why Repetition Matters
In Flamenco, technique isn’t built by chance—it’s built through intelligent repetition.
Every correct repetition strengthens the neural pathways in your brain. As those pathways become more insulated by the myelin sheath, your movements become faster, cleaner, more coordinated, and more effortless.
That means every braceo, every zapateado, every marcaje, every vuelta, and every correction has a purpose. You’re not just learning steps—you’re training your nervous system. 🧠✨
I have developed a technical turning sequence designed not only to improve coordination but also to help dancers gradually habituate their sense of spinning. 🥰 It has been incredibly successful, especially for dancers who are sensitive to turns.
These are Vueltas Normales from the Spanish dance repertoire, and they’re really starting to look beautiful! ❤️
Remember: repetition of good form is everything. Don’t run through an exercise casually or “just to get it done.” Your body learns exactly what you repeat. If you practice with intention, you’ll perform with intention. 💪✨
Practice with purpose. Repeat with precision. Build technique that lasts. ❤️
🥰 We’d love to welcome you this Fall. Come train with us and discover what focused, intelligent practice can do for your Flamenco. 💃❤️
