Today, November 16, 2021 is Canada’s National Bereavement Day

Feelings of grief can last much longer than society recognizes or supports.
In many ways, we never “get over” the death of someone MEANINGFUL to our lives. Instead, we learn to live with the loss and grief in ways that honour our bond with our missed loved ones while preserving our capacity for joy, pleasure and meaning in life.
Accepting your feelings and spending time with people who allow you to speak openly about your feelings and memories can be very helpful when you are coping with grief.

How do you feel when you grieve?

On this day, CHPCA encourages Canadians to engage government and all sectors of Canadian society in a national dialogue to identify and support access to the necessary resources for those living with grief and bereavement. A variety of resources are made available online for download.

HOME(LAND) Bodies of Water collective multimedia exhibition is open. What a joy to see my immersive and interactive project, Elegy for The Souls On Hold, come true as part of this media art collective.

I am so grateful to God, participant's souls, and John Tory Mayor for supporting these spaces of public encounter with art. Thankful also to City of Toronto, City of Toronto Culture team, team, my curator Claudia Arana and my great project's team: Diego Camacho, Cory Ronald, Omar Rivero and Maria Alejandra Mc Cormick.

Without their guidance, hard work and support, this interactive installation wouldn't be possible.

Congratulations to my fellow artists Akshata Naik, Shabnam Afrand and Peter Owusu-Ansah and Onaman Collective (Christi Belcourt + Isaac Murdock). I am honour to sharing the stage with you all.

This exhibition will be open to the public every day at Cloverdale Mall until December 31 of this year, Wednesday -Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. Saturday -Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm).

How to participate in ?
Second part
After selecting your loved one's photos and scanning the ones you have printed, you are ready to start filling out the entry form.

From the link in my Instagram Bio, you have access to the "Elegy for Souls on Hold" web pages. English and Spanish.
Fill out the format starting with your loved one name and dates.
Upload the selected portrait and then pictures of his life. Finally, complete the caption (whatever you fancy to write about images).

How can you participate in ?

Attending to our grievers' community's most frequent issues and doubts, we develop a series of mini-tutorial videos to help you out.

First things first: Choose the portrait you fancy the most of your loved one.

2-Then select the family photos, achievements, events, and loving memories that narrate their life's stories.

3-If you have printed photos, scan them with your smartphone camera. I recommend using FotoScan App. by Google, available for iPhone and Android. It is free of charge, easy to use and excellent.

We devoted this to , a brilliant musician who missed her loving mom to covid19 last year and joined to celebrate her mom's life, Maria, during the upcoming exhibition . As part of ArtworxTO SEP 22 -DEC 30, 2021.
