To everyone who came to La Promesa — thank you. ❤️
What we hoped would be a beautiful weekend of tango became something so much more because of all of you.
Thank you for travelling to Toronto, for filling the dance floor, for taking classes with open minds, for cheering on our artists, for staying for one more tanda (and then maybe one more after that for all the survivors), and most of all, for bringing so much warmth and generosity into the room.
There were so many little moments we’ll remember — reunions between old friends, new friendships forming, packed dance floors, late-night conversations, beautiful music, tired feet, big hugs, and that unmistakable feeling of being surrounded by people who really love tango.
La Promesa was created because we wanted to bring something special to our community, but seeing all of you come together reminded us that a festival is never really about the schedule, the venue, or even the performances. It’s about the people who show up and give it life.
And to our incredible artists - Martin Vicente & Ayelen Urrutia, Paula Tejeda y Lucas Carrizo, Leonardo Pankow y Valentina Massari Muscia, and Nadia y Erik Tango: thank you for trusting a new festival and a new team of organizers, and for bringing such unforgettable performances, generous teaching, and inspiring workshops to our very first La Promesa.
So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for trusting us, supporting our first La Promesa, and being part of this with us.
We came. We danced. We stayed. ❤️
And we’re very glad you did too.
And if you were wondering if we were going to do this again. Yes. Mark your calendars July 29 to August 2, 2027. VIVA LA PROMESA.
