Sold at The Artist Project in April as part of a beautiful conversation with collectors.

I've been thinking that these paintings reflect personal experiences of supportive connection where my heart is somehow stirred, so when it's possible to place all of the paintings together, it'll be a type of self-portrait. In other words, if you watch and see, you'll eventually know me. 😄 I think this is probably true of ALL artist's authentic painting.

It was confirming seeing so much art in many forms in England and recognizing that even though the world is heading full force into A.I and all manner of media, PAINTING is my number one. It was a gift to take time to research painting, motivations, and meet fellow artists. I'm more compelled than ever to communicate around human connection, togetherness and solidarity since the world seems to be suffering greatly from disconnection. Doing this honestly and keeping it direct is essential to me. Now, back to work!

Such a bonus on my art research adventure, to discuss figurative painting with a favourite u.k artist Amy Dury, in her working studio. What a treat! Thank-you Amy!

This stunning workmanship has a lot to do with my previous feed post called "Colour Evolution." My theme of human connection is so often inspired by something in the natural world. How do we stay genuinely connected in a mindful, focused way in a largely lonely world?

"The Crossing"
12" x 12"

Another painting I made for The Artist Project. This series connects me with moments of fun, play, love and adventure, so my process is also playful and contactful. I crank up the music, dance a little, and use many tools other than brushes, especially my fingers. This is now my favourite way to paint. Whatever is going on - music is the bridge that gets me into the right space.

My aim is that one day the energy or mood is translated into the painting so as to connect with the viewer and inspire hope and/or togetherness in this crazy, mixed up, apparently lonely, world.

Thank you to the wonderful people
who collected this series. Come and see me this weekend to see my latest collection. I'm at booth A135, on the North side of the Reflection Pool.

I thoroughly enjoyed painting this precious family moment of connection. I use my own sketches and photos as reference material and I made several initial sketches of this particular family. I also get a real thrill experimenting with new ways of merging or bringing figures closer to be more inclusive. I'm also attempting to metaphorically balance the internal and external experience here, as if the body were porous. I'm aiming to inspire togetherness and show the human condition in relationship to nature.

Have a contactful weekend everyone and hold your loved ones close if you're able.

"Building On What Came Before" II

Here, I'm playing with the same image as seen previously in Feed and exploring colour relationships, as a parallel to human relationships. How very differently this image reads now that I have changed the figures' internal mark making and colour alone. Experimentation is an artist's best friend. I believe the rest goes without saying, (or see what I wrote about Part I.)Currently I have many paintings in various stages of completion or edit. More pics of works in progress to follow. Happy Wednesday (or Thursday if you're in my country of origin.) 😁

"Building On What Came Before"

This is an optimistic view of human - nature.

No matter what is going on in the world, we are connected by our humanity. Just as layers of sedimentary rock form from processes of weathering, erosion, deposition, compaction and cementation, we humans - change, grow and re-form through life's experience. In the life of our planet, AND ourselves, we deposit and form new layers on top of older layers. This painting extends my interest in genuine connection with each other and our planet.

I'm back in my Toronto studio after six weeks away, fortunate to have had a bright and memorable time connecting with loved ones, attending multiple exhibitions and painting in a make-shift garage studio. Feeling extremely grateful.

"In Touch"

I painted this minimal cityscape while in Toronto and now I'm thousands of miles away in my home of origin. How fortunate we are to stay so connected, despite the vast distance.

Finding its new home with a concert pianist in England, it too has travelled. Funny how themes connect if you take notice.
