Award-winning Ukrainian-born Seattle-based oil painter Anastasia Fedorova creates unique multilayer oil paintings using the traditional Renaissance Italian technique impasto. Her oil paintings have many layers of different oil paintings. Sometimes there could be up to six layers which she paints one on top of another. Her unique technique allows her to achieve an incredible depth in her oil paintings and makes her works full of vivid and sumptuous colours.

Gorgeous statement piece by Detroit-based artist Megan Lui ✨

“I paint natural elements against geometric abstraction to represent the complexity and beauty of the human experience. Working in layers with myriad of materials, I build up visual and physical texture before creating a narrative with painted paper cranes alluding to the fragility of life and the importance of community ties.”

Introducing the newest Canadian artist represented by Kefi Art Gallery: Christopher Hall ✨

“There are artists whose work simply makes you stop and smile, and Christopher Hall is one of them. What first drew me to Christopher’s paintings is that his birds are never just birds; they become confident protagonists in carefully orchestrated worlds where bold colour, graphic precision, and playful imagination exist in perfect balance. Every composition feels intentional, every colour considered, every line purposeful. Yet despite this remarkable discipline, the work never feels rigid. Instead, it radiates warmth, curiosity, and a lighthearted spirit that invites viewers in rather than keeping them at a distance.

As a curator, I look for artists whose work offers more than aesthetic appeal. Christopher’s paintings create atmosphere. His birds possess personality without becoming sentimental, while architectural elements and geometric patterns create an effortless dialogue between realism and fantasy, a quality that keeps the paintings fresh every time you return to them. For both private and corporate collections, Christopher Hall’s work offers something truly valuable: art that is visually striking, universally engaging, and capable of bringing warmth, optimism, and lasting conversation to any space.”

This beautiful painting by Loretta Kaltenhauser was acquired by our local collector this week. 🔴

Loretta Kaltenhauser is an established, contemporary, award-winning Canadian artist who creates works that are either abstract or have landscape elements to them. Using various brushes and palette knives, Loretta layers, subtracts, and manipulates acrylic paint on canvas to synthesize an intricate and distinct tableau. Colours and shapes take on an energy of their own, and each subsequent layer of texture and colour she adds reinterprets her thoughts and emotions.

Some of Loretta Kaltenhauser‘s pieces are currently on view at Danish Pastry House (Shops at Don Mills location) until September as part of the “Wild Ground” exhibition.

New piece from Nova Scotia-based artist Joanne MacLennan ✨

“When you stand on the beach with the gentle salty breeze of the ocean air brushing against your face, the feeling that you’ve arrived home washes over you from head to toe. If you live near the ocean you know. It’s unmistakable. It’s peaceful, inviting, and you end up never wanting to leave. Somehow we always leave the seaside planning to come back sooner than we ever do, and end up wondering why it took so long to return. Why is that?”

Beautiful landscape piece by Bridget Brummel is part of “Points of Orientation” group exhibition.

“I often describe my work like memories, cloudy in nature, without all the sharp edges of reality. Bright colours are often used to demonstrate my enthusiasm for what is before my eyes. Texture and lines accompany colour to create movement, for although I attempt to stop time, time never does. This allows the clouds to almost float across the sky, the trees to rustle in the wind, or the river to flow. I attempt to place my audience in the place where I stood, watching the river flow and the clouds drift across the sky.”

Che Ree Kwon is a Toronto-based visual artist from South Korea. Grounded in memory and emotion, her painting practice translates fleeting impressions of overlooked urban corners, secluded parks, and quiet, overgrown natural spaces into layered acrylic and mixed media compositions on canvas.

Her work is characterized by bold, simplified natural forms, vivid color, textured surfaces, and a collage-like energy that balances organic and geometric elements. Through these layered compositions, Kwon explores complexity, playfulness, and the emotional resonance of everyday surroundings.

Lush, evocative artwork of Nadine Prada is inspired by her childhood in the Caribbean. She aims to take viewers on a sensorial journey through striking landscapes and exotic places, helping them feel more alive and attuned to their senses.

“This work reflects the umbilical pull of certain places, indelible memories overlaid with new impressions, creating layers of time and experiences. The feeling of lushness and abundance that rainforest foliage evokes. Sunlight on water. The kiss of fragrant tropical air on your skin. Places where the pace of life is slow, sensorial beauty is everywhere, encouraging moments of pause, even of transcendence. Exploring my personal and family history is a reclamation of my authentic self, one that I hope permits others to reflect upon and claim for themselves.”

Stunning piece by Bibiana Hooper from her newest ‘Liquid Light’ collection✨

“This body of work is an exploration of stillness; of the Okanagan as I feel it, not just as I see it. Soft horizons, minimal colour, and quiet space become a way of listening.

I’m drawn to the idea that everything is formed from something more fluid: light, awareness, presence slowly taking shape. These landscapes are not fixed places, but moments where that light settles, however briefly, into form. There is a calm here, but it isn’t empty. It moves. It breathes. It ripples beneath the surface.

I think of it as a kind of liquid light, something you can’t quite hold, but can feel. And maybe that same quiet source exists in all of us: unseen, but gently shaping how we experience the world.”
